Still at that A-Z Blog Challenge thing...
Day 15-O is for Ornaments
I didn't overthink this one, but went with something obvious. I was inspired by the attic cleanout we started at the end of March and will finish sometime soon. I have several bins of photo albums left to tackle still and will need a full couple of days to go through them. I know myself and know I'll get majorly sidetracked looking at old pictures, so the job will take longer than it should.
But that's a post for another day. Today we're talking Christmas, or more specifically Christmas ornaments.
I think the trend now is to have fancy trees or themed trees, but in our house we always like something more homespun. Our tree is filled with ornaments that mean something to us, and I feel sentimental about almost every one. They are in a way, the story of us.
There's one from our 'first married Christmas'-
Places we've lived-
and my favorite...those made by little hands-
I love pulling the boxes out every year and taking a stroll down memory lane.
This is one collection we have in common. I have ornaments dating back to both my husband and mine's birth as well as ones we've collected since getting together.
ReplyDeleteHomespun trees are the best! I love a good theme and have some themed trees but I like the one in our family room the best with all of our family's ornaments. It looks like you have a lot of special ones that bring you joy. Love it!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the hodgepodge ornament- that's a keeper! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat sweet treasures and love that Hodgepodge ornament!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I still have ornaments from our childhood and we've collected many each year since being married. My favorites are the handmade ones from my kids when they were little. I love your ornaments and how cool you have one for the hodgepodge.
ReplyDeleteWe are homespun here with our tree, too. Great choice for O! We have two more birthdays to celebrate this weekend and then we have a breather until September. Whew! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love that first married Christmas ~ we have one similar. :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.

Joyce, I love this post!! My tree (box of ornaments) all have a history and a special meaning! No theme trees, ever, in my home. Thank you for sharing this!!
ReplyDeleteYour ornaments are lovely. Love the Hodgepodge one. My tree is filled with Hallmark ornaments and several that are not. Working at Hallmark for about 7 years I couldn't help myself. I don't buy much anymore.
ReplyDeleteI love sentimental ornaments, and our tree has morphed over the years from a mix of balls and sentimental to only sentimental. So many memories!
ReplyDeleteI have a few sentimental ornaments which come out every year and then others that I mix and match depending on how I feel. I'm not fussed about my tree being perfect.
ReplyDeleteIt's one of my favorite Christmas moments each year - pulling out the ornaments and looking at them as they are added to the tree! This past Christmas our Littles (our granddaughters) and their mama were visiting when we put the tree up and we all giggled as story after story was told as many were added to the tree! I love all your memories/ornaments!
