These last three letters might just send me over the edge. Let's get to it...
Day 24-X is for boXes
Listen. This is totally fine. Three tough letters remain and one does what one must to meet the challenge deadline.
My theme for this A-Z Blog Challenge has been The Things We Keep: Ordinary Objects from A-Z and when I think about the things I keep I think pictures. Ironically, there won't be pictures in this post today because I'm eXhausted, and getting this one written just under the wire.
While I don't have nearly as many recent photos printed as I do old photos, I still have plenty of both. Some are in scrapbooks, some in frames, most though are in boxes. Now in my defense some of the boxes are actual photo boxes and they're organized with the pictures filed by year. Some are slightly disorganized boxes containing photo albums which I suppose are organized in a sense but still need to be dealt with, and some are shoeboxes filled with an 'I'll get to that later' sort of filing system.
Hubs and I started cleaning out the attic this winter and it's in pretty good shape at the moment. But there are three large boxes filled with what I've just described and I'm determined to get to them before summer rolls around in roughly 55 days.
Plenty of time, no?
So tell me, do you own a real camera or do you take pictures strictly with your phone? Do you print those pictures regularly and if so, now what? Also, how do you organize the photos on your phone?
I have a hard time letting go of pictures I've snapped. I have plenty that aren't great, yet they still mark a moment in time I want to remember. My mother-in-law used to have an end table whose drawer was filled with the most random assortment of photographs you ever did see, and you couldn't help but rifle through it every time you were there.
I want a drawer like that.
I don't often print out pictures anymore. I take most pictures with my iPhone but I do occasionally take pictures with my Nikon. I like playing around with the settings and it can take really great quality pictures. I have many of my printed pictures organized but I have some "loose leaf" pictures in drawers and it is fun to open up drawers with random pictures in it and look at the pictures! I appreciate the irony of no photos with this post, lol! You've done a great job- pat yourself on the back!!
ReplyDeleteWe are so close to the finish line!! I have a camera but haven't used it in years. My phone takes better photos! I used to scrapbook all of the time BUT I haven't done that in years either! Sometimes I make photobooks of our trips. My photo organization is non existent at this time :-)
ReplyDeleteI keep most photos on my own and download them for a family Shutterfly album every year. Once in awhile I will frame some but mostly everything is electronic nowadays for us
ReplyDeleteI sometimes push my photos from phone to my Macbook and then to my account at snapfish and print them out via their website. I hardly ever do that though. I save photos in folders on my laptop cause......our printer is old. I'm cracking up that you have no photos to go with your post.
ReplyDeleteI actually had to use a google search to find an attribute of God that begins with X and I did!!
Since I got a new phone a few years ago, I really don't bother pulling out my "fancy" camera anymore. I order a small Shutterfly book every year - no frills, few words, just the best pictures from the year. If we take a big trip, I order a Chatbooks book - very simple app interface. I also order prints a few times a year from Walgreens. These are snapshots of all of us together, special shots of the kids or nice poses of the pets. I put some of these on my bulletin board, and give some to the kids too. Keeping up with photos and online storage seems to be a full time job nowadays.
ReplyDeleteI take pictures with my cel phone and the pictures I've amassed go back to 2015 or so. I add them to a folder on my computer. At the end of the year, I transfer them to a flash drive which I keep in a fireproof box. Before 2015? Banished to a box. Some of the black and white ones are real doozies.
ReplyDeleteThat drawer sounds great, I have photos all over my walls which I love and others in photo albums
ReplyDeleteI really want to organise my photos better - and print out some from my phone - gave up on a camera ages ago. We were looking through photos recently - its my daughters 40th next month and DIL wanted photos. It's always fun looking through the old photos but how often do we do that with ones on the phone? It's on my to do list along with a lot of other long term tasks! Good luck with sorting your boxes.
