Welcome to this week's edition of The Wednesday Hodgepodge. If you've answered today's questions add your link at the end of my post, then leave a comment for the blogger before you. Or all the bloggers if you've got the time. Here we go...
1. What's one piece of advice you would you give a recent or soon-to-be graduate?4. May is National BBQ Month...do you own a grill? Who does the grilling at your house? What's your favorite thing to throw on the grill? What's the last thing you grilled?
Do we own a grill? Ha! We have a Big Green Egg used primarily for steaks and large entrees like pork butts, ribs, brisket, 50 chicken wings, that sort of thing. We have a gas grill we use when we just want to grill a couple of chicken breasts or burgers, a piece of salmon, etc., and we have a griddle we use for a variety of things...smashburgers, fried rice, fajitas and my favorite...
...making pancakes when the grands are all here. Hubs and I were just discussing the griddle the other night saying we want to do more griddling this summer.
Hubs does the grilling here and also the cleaning of the grill after cooking. My favorite thing to throw on the grill would be a burger, but the last thing we grilled was a ribeye steak on Mother's Day.
There are many, but one of the first things that popped in to my head was daughter1 meeting daughter2 the day she was born.
My parents brought her to the hospital and it was one of the sweetest moments of my life.
6. Insert your own random thought here.

Your flowers are so pretty! It's a beautiful time of the year with the well watered plants thanks to rain and everything blooming nicely. Agree with what you said about moral courage- it's so important to have. Also agree about there being no place like home after a trip. What a sweet memory and something that for sure brings joy when you think about it- great picture!
ReplyDeleteThat is the best advice for #1. I still don't think I have my life figured out. lol
ReplyDeleteI feel the same when I have been out all day, there is no place like home.
Your grills sound amazing!
Aww! Your memory of your girls meeting for the first time did make me smile.
I like your answer to #3 and I didn't even think of that when I was answering the questions. As always, thank you for the questions and for allowing all of us to link up!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers! We have a grill, a griddle, and a smoker on our patio so yeah we have lots of options for cooking outdoors (though the griddle is my brothers and I assume he'll be taking it with him soon!).
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious photo and what a sweet memory. We answered much of the same to the questions! Your hub is an awesome griller! Have you done gourmet grilled cheeses on the griddle?
ReplyDeleteHaven't done that yet, but sounds like something to try.
DeleteI loved all the questions this week and how you answered them. I also loved when my first son met my first son after he was born...and when they met my twins. I didn't say that, but what a sweet memory! Those flowers are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOh that precious memory is just beautiful- I can see why it was your favorite. You have the BEST location for grilling- look at that lake and how happy your Hubs is- perfection!
ReplyDeleteThat is great advice for a graduate and the day that sisters meet.....so sweet. I ended my post with flowers today too! Thanks Joyce and hope this week is going a little calmer for you.
ReplyDeleteGreat advice and my youngest lived that out! she THOUGHT she wanted to be a social worker and did indeed was a caseworker for a womens domestic violence shelter/organization for one year after graduating from UNH but now? she's an optician! And she has found her niche.....the cool thing about a Sociology degree is any kind of job with communication skills and people skills are open.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the daughters pic!!
Gorgeous flowers
Your grill and griddle looks great!
ReplyDeleteAhh, the sweetness in the photo of big sister meeting little sister is wonderful. What a special moment. Great advice to graduates! We've had a good week away but I'm so looking forward to being back home! There really is no place like home on this earth. Heaven is another story and it will be interesting if we'll have a 'saying' about it when we've finally been there a while. :)
ReplyDeleteYour photo of Daughter 1 meeting Daughter 2 is priceless!
ReplyDeleteI liked what you said for #2.
ReplyDeleteI could use some more courage too.
I loved your memory of your daughters meeting each other.
xo
Great answers, Joyce, and that picture of D1 meeting D2 brought tears to my eyes! So very sweet and such a great memory. Good golly!! Happy Wednesday!! xo
ReplyDeleteThat's very nice advice to the graduate. Hope you get the courage you want. I agree, it does feel good to get home to your own bed. Your meals sound great. Those pancakes look yummy. That is a sweet photo of daughter1 meeting daughter2. Your roses are beautiful. Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a sweet memory, of both your daughters and your parents too. Your flowers look incredible!
ReplyDeleteOh my - moral courage. I will second that....and need to pray for that! I enjoyed the HP this week. Thanks again for hosting. And that is the sweetest photo of your littlest girlies:)
ReplyDeleteThe picture of your first daughter meeting her baby sister is precious. It sparked a memory of my daughter doing the same. They grew up being the best of friends, often leaving little brother as the outcast. Grilling season is definitely here. Those steaks sure do look yummy! ~CAAC
ReplyDeleteThe view out to the lake from your grilling/griddling spot is lovely. I would want to be out there grilling every chance I got. One of the things we're thinking of upgrading after we move might be our selection of grills. Hey, if there's room on the deck, why not!?
ReplyDeleteThat photo of your daughters meeting for the first time is precious. Definitely a joyful memory.
Hope you're having a great week!
The apron really suits your husband! The picture where the big sister sees the little one for the first time is really sweet.
ReplyDeleteWe had similar thoughts on a couple of these questions - I like the comfort of my own home and bed too.
ReplyDeleteI loved your answers and of course your photos. I dream of an outdoor kitchen, but not sure that will come to fruition.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers at the end. I would never in a million years think people could cook pancakes on an outdoor grill! Mind blown. Moral courage is a good one. It sometimes feels even harder with so much going on that is splitting people into one camp or another.
