A Cup Of Pumpkin Spice Hodgepodge

Welcome to another week in The Wednesday Hodgepodge. If you've answered today's questions add your link at the end of my post, then hop over and leave a comment for your neighbor there. Here we go...

From this Side of the Pond
1. What's something that scares you?

Besides our government you mean? I kid. Sort of.

I'm going with bats. They give me the heebie jeebies.

2. Do you care where the food you eat comes from? To what degree?

Do I care? Yes. I read labels, am on the lookout for the GM tag and do my best to steer clear, we eat very little processed foods, and if I were ever to have dinner with Bill Gates I'd tell him real meat only please, none of that synthetic stuff he thinks Americans should be eating.

Just to be clear, Bill Gates is not someone I'd care to have dinner with.

3. What's something you wish you'd spent more time doing when you were younger?

Oh wow, lots of things I suppose, but realizing that is part of growing up. A few things that come to mind would be speaking French, asking my dad about his childhood, keeping up with a journal, and learning to play the piano. A few more serious bits too but I don't think they're for sharing here.

4. Let's play autumn this or that....pumpkin spice or apple cider? Corn maze or haunted house? Horror film or Hallmark movie? Blanket or sweatshirt? Watch football or watch the World Series? Foliage-red, yellow or orange?

I'm not a pumpkin spice fan at all so cider it is. I've never cared for the scary elements of Halloween so I'll go for the corn maze. I definitely don't watch any horror movies, but it's also a rare day I watch a Hallmark movie so really neither. Hallmark if I have to choose. I love a cozy blanket, and college football is what fall Saturdays are all about. As far as the foliage goes, I love a mix of all three colors.

5. This time last year where were you and what were you doing?

This time last year hubs and I had just returned from a fabulous trek up the coast of California (mucho posts about that trip starting with the link here).

On the first Tuesday in October of 2022 we were finally back in the southland. I spent that morning in the orthopedic surgeon's office having my fractured elbow assessed. Good times.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

October, 2023. It's not the coast of California...

...but it's awfully pretty here too.

  2. I totally agree with eating the food grown in labs and I would not have dinner with Bill Gates.
My trees are just barely beginning to turn. The temps have been in the 80s, but we are expecting much cooler temps this weekend so by next weekend the trees will begin to turn.

  3. Yeah the lab-grown stuff is a scam. Straight up. I too don't trust the government; turn off your phone alerts today before the big all-country test! I tin-foil hat believe it's so they can add additional monitoring software. But maybe I'm just crazy. Or maybe the US is going all electric eye like Britain? Who knows. As always, thanks for hosting.

  4. Haha...yes our government gets scarier every day and I would never want to eat with Bill. I'm not a fan of fake food. I do remember your trip up the coast and that unfortunate accident. How is your elbow doing? Any lasting pain? You live in a beautiful part of our world with lots to discover in your own backyard, enjoy!

  5. I loved all your answers! I am sorry that I didn't ask both of my parents more questions. I find old photos and I don't know the who, what, where, when, or why. I'll think of something and wonder why we did that. Ugh, so many things. I'm off to read your California posts. Looks like a fabulous trip and have I thanked you lately for the Hodgepodge, it is so much fun!

  6. I didn't kid about our government. These are some bad times. Yes, definitely not eating that synthetic stuff. I agree, asking my dad more questions and getting more family history. A journal would have been nice too. Love your answers on Autumn. Yes, I remember your trip from last year. Hope your elbow is doing well. Yes, definitely a beautiful spot and the dog definitely loves it. Take care and God Bless. Enjoy the rest of your week.

  7. Beautiful! I totally agree with what you've said about Bill Gates; politics, too. Wish the lot of them would grow up, or grow a spine.

  8. Oh to live where there are actually four seasons. We here in North Central Texas are having an actual cool front today with a temperature high of 89 degrees, and we're grateful. There are no nearby refreshing waterfalls or changing of colors. I miss being able to take a mini road trip in any direction to see something awesome. A mini road trip for us is to Costco. That being said, we love where we live and the folks we share it with. Enjoyed your answers as always and do hope to return to the Hodgepodge soon.

  10. I like your answers to these questions, mine would be............

Snakes as well as the thought of not seeing my family members

Nope don't care where it comes from just that we have food to eat as many don't.

I wish I had travelled when I was younger

    Can't remember a year ago

May your days be filled with moments of joy and pleasure , with golden days of love and cheer, cherish these moments

  11. We have lots of the same answers; bats freak me out, I too care where our food comes from (just shy of trying to grow it myself though as I am not a gardener), and I just love all the leaf colors blending together this time of year.

  12. Thanks for another fun Hodgepodge, Joyce. Finally... someone else who isn't fond of pumpkin spice!! Thank you! Hugs!!

  13. I don't personally care for the current U.S. government either but it's better than the last. Trump did scare me and to an extent still does. Then again, he probably does more harm to Americans who oppose his views than to me as a European.

I agree with you on most of the this or that questions, except for the pumpkin spice vs. apple cider one.

  14. I think I commented in my head..lol. I enjoyed your answers. I don't care for bats either and a few months ago we had one in our house. Uggh that wsn't fun.
