Good morning friends. What a weekend it has been and I pray for our nation and the world. I pray especially for our troops, for their families, and for God's perfect peace to be over all. Psalm 46:1 tells us 'God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.' May we turn to Him now.
Awkward segue here into the ordinary comings and goings of our weekend, but it's a topsy turvy world we're living in, and my blog will be a little topsy turvy too.
I took very few pics this weekend but it was a busy one nonetheless. Friday morning I worked on the tax organizer and there isn't anyone who would find a picture of that very interesting, is there? I certainly don't. Completing this organizer every year is one of my least favorite tasks.
I played Mah Jong Friday afternoon and then hubs and I went to a local spot about 5 to check on a reservation we have there next weekend. We wanted to see the space as there will be fourteen of us and we wanted to make sure it was going to work, which it will. We ended up having dinner at the bar and neighbors came in and ended up seated next to us. Small town livin' y'all.
Saturday morning I was up in the early morning hours to make the two+ hour drive to Atlanta for a baby shower. The shower was at 11:30, but I left extra extra early in order to meet a friend for coffee beforehand. It was wonderful to catch up in person.
The shower was lovely and who doesn't love celebrating a momma-to-be. The festivities wrapped up around 1:30 and I was back on the road headed home.
Atlanta traffic, no matter the day or time, is the worst. Carry on.
I got home about 4:30 and hubs made me a cup of tea while we chatted, then we were back in the car to meet up with friends who are renovating their house. They wanted us to see what all they're doing, and it kind of makes me want to build a house. I mean. not really, but a little bit yes. We got Mexican food afterwards and it was a nice relaxed evening.
Sunday was a beautiful day. We went to church, then had brunch out afterwards, then made a stop at the grocery to get our pork butts for the coming weekend's BBQ. We'll have hubs mom here to celebrate a big birthday with her great-grandchildren and we'll be doing BBQ for Friday night's dinner.
The weather was spectacular, sunny with temps in the upper 70's, so I took my book and sat beside the waterfall and read for two hours.
As an aside, hubs has kept these plants in full bloom in our lower level garage all winter with just a grow light and he pulled them outside today.
So glad one of us has a green thumb!
Yes please.
They had their two dogs with them and they were dying to get off the boat and into the water.
We did pull up to a beach at one point and let them run and they were so happy.
Me too. Sunshine is good for the soul.
I made a salad for dinner and hubs ate some of the leftover pasta from my Friday night meal, so an easy peasy end to the weekend.
As we roll into this next new week may your faith be bigger than your fear.

Practicing more faith to lessen my fear for sure-thank you for the reminder. Your weather sounds heavenly and what a welcome break after all of that ice!
ReplyDeleteI like the line that Allie B. Stuckey uses, "God's eternal plan for redemption is going on without a hitch." God is acutely aware of all the messes mankind gets itself into including wars and evil men leading countries and carrying out atrocities- nothing surprises him. And while God's sovereignty is not an excuse to not care or do anything about evil (if just to mention it and not pretend it doesn't exist), it is comforting to know that this life is not it and our faith is in Jesus and eternity with him. Your weekend sounds nice- planning a party and doing some impromptu but fun activities with friends. Very nice- including your weather. We need some warm days. They're coming and in the forecast but not here yet...
ReplyDeleteTom had the news on all day Saturday and I would come in from the sun to listen.
ReplyDeleteWe are reading the same book! It's so charming and I don't want it to end.
You had such a nice weekend. First boat ride of the season? But, not on your boat. How fun and spontaneous and fun to not be responsible sometimes.
Awesome timing on your friends arriving! I always wish our friends would ask us to do stuff but we're always the ones to initiate. People tend to agree to do something but they never go first. LOL. Looks like a nice weekend and here's to a good week.
ReplyDeleteI have been watching the news and it is so scary.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a good weekend. How lovely to catch up with your friend and attend the baby shower. The boat trip looks so relaxing!
It's scary to turn on the news these days, wondering what's next. Sounds like you had a good weekend though. Those plants have certainly kept well. I wish I had green thumbs but sadly I do not. Hope your week and lead up to your family celebrations goes well.
ReplyDeleteHello Joyce,
ReplyDeleteI am praying right along with you. We have an extended family member stationed in Kuwait.
Praying!!
Your weekend sounded fantastic. I love how you finished the book just in time for the boat ride. :-)
High Fives to your sweetheart, those plants look fantastic.
Love, Carla
We completed our tax organizer this weekend too and it is definitely one of my most dreaded chores every single year. The weather sounds really lovely and that boat ride looks so nice.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean.. whenever someone moves into a new space I feel like doing so too and fresh blank canvas. But then I remember that that would entail packing and unpacking and I think we are fine right where we are.
ReplyDeleteMy logical brain can not wrap around how anything that has happened could have possibly happened. I guess laws mean nothing anymore.
Amen!! I am blessed to have been married to a CPA and now have a son who is a CPA (among other things) and does taxes 'on the side'. He said he'll have mine for me next weekend. Glad I don't have to mess with it. Yes, I was an accountant, but for a non-profit. No taxes. I don't do taxes, and am not a CPA. Whew! Love the pups on the boat, and always yes to a boat ride!! Have a blessed week ahead, and take some photos for us at that special birthday celebration! xo
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty pups!! My husband has the green thumb in our family and he brings all of our big plants into the garage in the winter. I have two hibiscus that were given to me as gifts when I was 40 and 42. I am 67 now and he has kept those plants alive and well all of these years. Mark was the CFO of a company and is a CPA by education so it is nice that he does our taxes!
ReplyDeleteI also got started on the tax documents to send to our CPA ASAP. My process is to scan all the data, save in folders on my computer, then send it to the CPA's portal and let those busy ladies do their thing. You had a very busy weekend and I do not envy you driving in Atlanta. It is nothing short of insane.
ReplyDeleteFaith over fear - such a good reminder and it especially feels so these days. It feels a bit strange going on with our normal routines with what's happening in the world, doesn't it? Speaking of normal routines, the dreaded tax organizer... I'm so jealous you've got yours started/done! Ugh! Sounds like you have a wonderful weekend ahead - lots of celebrating and family time to come! Your boat ride and flowers look so inviting - spring is in the air!
ReplyDeleteYou two are certainly enjoying your life. You are always busy doing something. So happy for you. Hope your week is going well. God Bless.
