It doesn't look or feel much like fall here yet. We've had temperatures in the 90's and the humidity has been thick, but! we're 'cooling off' and will be in the upper 70's later this week and I.am.ready. We're back into the 80's next week so there will be a little more summer before fall finally lands.
Everything is still green here, but I'm going to the mountains with some girlfriends this weekend and I'm hoping we might see a few pops of color.
I always miss my NJ yard this time of year.
Something I love to do that makes it feel like it's officially fall?
Apple picking.
I hope we can find a day to do that soon.
2. What's a small daily task or chore that always seems to fall through the cracks when your schedule gets busy?
Dusting my bedroom. In fact, answering this question inspired me to go dust.
3. What's something you're falling for lately?
I bought some wide legged jeans and have to say I love them. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about the fit, but I wore them for the first time recently and several people commented on how cute they are.
4. Pumpkin is a popular flavor this time of year. Are you a fan?
Pumpkin is not my favorite. I like pumpkin bread but am a hard no on pumpkin flavored coffees, creams, and candle scents. I like to decorate with pumpkins, but can take or leave the flavor in food and drink.
I do have a good recipe for a pumpkin french toast that my daughter found a couple of years ago and I'm going to make it this weekend. It's just the right amount of pumpkin and makes a nice fall company breakfast dish.

Our love for this country and the core values of our founding.

What's everybody watching? We need a new show.
Why am I awake and here already? I've got cramps in my feet, yikes. I was traveling all day yesterday and my feet are taking it out on me. We are just beginning to see some Fall changes here...not too much yet. I saw so many wide leg pants at the airport and I do admire them. I haven't been able to find some that end up being short enough and I'm not a hemmer...is that a word? I like looking at pumpkins more than I like eating pumpkin flavored things. Happy Fall to you and I think we need a photo soon of you in your wide leg pants!
ReplyDeleteLudwig is what we are really enjoying. Season 2 is coming in October but the show is on Britbox or is it Acorn. One or the other.
ReplyDeleteYour answer to question 5 is really good. Yes, imagine not loving a country that provides opportunity and freedom yet that's where many people are. Our founders' values were amazing- selfless, freedom loving, men of strong/real Christian faith (most of them), etc. I've never gone apple picking but it sounds very "fall" and lovely! Thanks for the questions and link up!
ReplyDeleteApple picking is a fun one; though we have been to the orchard a few times already this year we haven't picked apples. I don't have the helpers I used to so it's much easier (and cheaper!) to pop in and just buy the ones they've already picked for me.
ReplyDeleteHave you watched Patience yet? We enjoyed that - especially since we are going to York soon! We recently watched Furious. That show was intense. Have you watched The Gentleman? We feel like we've watched all of the popular series and are hunting something new to watch, too.

ReplyDeleteOh, I would love your pumpkin french toast recipe! I have a pumpkin pancake mix in my pantry. We are loving the new season of Ted Lasso and we are amused by Chad Powers - it's about football and since it's football season it's perfect. Tom is obsessed with all his BritBox shows like Shetland. I don't really watch those but they are on while I read.

DeleteSame girl!!! Not a fan of pumpkin, but love to decorate with them. I am also waiting on the leaves to change; such a reminder of God's beauty. Gosh, I just finished a Netflix series, can't remember the name it had the word 'doctor' in it. I am not a huge TV person, but I love to read. A great book is The Calamity Club by Kathryn Stockett. She also wrote The Help and I think she was a Phi Mu...I think.
ReplyDeleteToday looks like fall here, a little grey and gloomy but it is warmer than it has been. The weather needs to make its mind up. I will be apple picking soon, my dad has a few trees, pears too.

I love that wide leg jeans are coming back. I used to love them and remember being so angry when all I could get was the skinny ones.

ReplyDeleteWe are re-watching Designated Survivor (on Netflix) - it's pretty good, and also mostly clean, although it does start to get cheesier as it goes along.
I miss when we used to go apple picking!

ReplyDeleteI need to check out those jeans! Only yesterday I gave AI my waist/hip measurements and asked for recommendations. It delivered, big time -- including brands and prices. No more standing in those little dressing rooms with the abysmal lighting!

ReplyDeleteWe will be going apple picking this weekend with our son Atticus. We have what is called the Chippewa Valley Fruit Loop. ;-) Several orchards along the loop. Each has its own unique fun.

Hi Joyce, that tree is so pretty! We took the grand apple picking during Covid when we did lots of outdoor things with them. I like to watch Dances with the Stars. All my regular shows start back when I am in Isreal. I tried some flared pants, but I am so short and most were too long and one was too short! Have a great rest of the week!

ReplyDeleteLOVE the orange tree from NJ. It's been PERFECT here in NYS this week. We just love the temps in the 60s and 70s. JUst climbed a mountain in the high peaks at 5.98 miles. Was gorgeous up there!Color will be at peak in about 2 weeks.

ReplyDeleteI miss apple orchards more than lilacs here in Florida! My bedroom is always the last room to be cleaned, and it always has the most cat hair since I share the room with the boys, too. Hooray!! I finally found someone who joins me in not liking pumpkin spice anything!! I agree with your answer to #5!! I am watching the new season of The Voice and also Dancing With The Stars. As for a series, I watch a lot of the British detective shows on Acorn and BritBox. I also watch Escape To The Country and The Repair Shop. The Brits do is so well!! ReplyDeleteA yard with big trees that have great color is such a bonus in the fall. We had a yard like that in NJ and in MD - and there are big trees in the back of the yard here, so I am hoping for a great view of the colors once they change!
ReplyDeleteI loved your answer to #5 - simple and to the point, and I think so many of the country's problems would be solved or at least mitigated if we all loved the country and wanted good and prosperity for all citizens.

Pumpkin french toast? Can I come for breakfast??! That sounds delicious. I did grocery shopping today. Looked for my fall breakfast cereals (that I so look forward to this time of year) but they were nowhere to be found. SO incredibly disappointing!
