Brought To You By The Letter B

B is for Birthdays-

A friend posted a little thing on Facebook, filled with questions you're meant to ask your hubs or wife and the first one read, 'What's something I say all the time?' And my hubs replied, "It's almost my birthday." Ha! I guess there's some truth there, particularly during the month of September.

Y'all it's almost my birthday.

Also my baby girl entered the world 26 years ago Saturday, and we loved celebrating with her this past weekend.

I made her favorite dinner and her favorite cake on Friday night and she opened our gifts and told us all about how her sweet students (and their moms!) made her school day so special and then she went home because she teaches kindergarten and kindergarten wears a body out.

She is so precious.

B is for Boating and Beaches-

We've spent a lot of time on the boat this summer and it requires a fair bit of schlepping and such to make it happen, but once we're underway it's all good. There are many many little islands in the lake and a fair number of them have little beaches so we've had fun exploring and checking them out.

They're not beaches as in white soft sandy beaches, but there's sand and there's land and we set the anchor and swim over with our chairs and our lunch and our sunscreen and we enjoy.

B is for Building-

Still at it. We were excited to see actual stairs go in this week. Hubs can finally sleep at night and quit worrying about me accidentally stepping off the edge where there was no railing, just a big drop down to the lower level. I only almost did that once or twice
or every time I'm there so no biggie.

They still need to be stained, but they are beautiful.

And that's our weekend in a nutshell. Just for fun, leave a B-word in the comments that describes your weekend.

Wait, did I tell you it's almost my birthday?

  2. Broccoli. We sat around like vegetables most of the weekend, watching Stranger Things and Quantico!!

One of our favorite things, back when we lived on the lake, was to anchor on the sandbar and play. The water was only about 3-4 feet deep and was great fun with little nieces and nephews. Only the "locals" knew about the sandbar.

  8. Pretty pictures and you have a railing!!! Beautiful!
My B word this weekend was blogging. Three posts in a week feels like some sort of a record for this summer!
Only 5 more days until B day!

  9. A fair amount of schlepping happens while sitting river side too. Eh. Love stairs and railing! Coincidentally my stairs are also getting (refinished)stained next week. Not looking forward to it like you are though. Ha.

  13. Welcome back! Last time I checked, there were no new posts, now, suddenly I found two! I've been on a break of my own, and haven't posted, either, since the last Hodgepodge. So much to say, so little time or energy...

I'm sorry to hear about your gallbladder issues. I've yet to experience that. I'm told it's no fun, so I hope I can skip that.

It looks like the house is coming along nicely. I'm happy (for you) that the home build has an end in sight. It won't be as long as it has been :)

See ya' tomorrow for the Hodgepodge!

  14. Hi Joyce, this is my first visit to your blog. I found you through I Carried a Watermelon's participation in Wednesday Hodgepodge. I decided to have a look around, and I love what I find here.

First of all, happy birthday! Hope your day is filled to overflowing with love, joy, laughter, and all things beautiful.

My daughter, also, is 26, having hit that mark back in February.

The "B" word for my weekend is bridal shower. One of my daughter's good friends is getting married next weekend, and her bridal shower was last Saturday. What a joy to share in this lovely girl's happiness.

    Blessings,
    Patti
