The Hodgepodge Buzz

Welcome to the weekly Q and A, also known as The Wednesday Hodgepodge. If you've answered today's questions add your link at the end of my post, then leave a comment for the blogger before you. Here we go-

From this Side of the Pond
1. May 20th is World Bee Day...what's something that's kept you 'busy as a bee' lately?

When haven't we been busy? Life and our people keep us busy these days, but I'm not complaining. It's a fun kind of busy.

2. Do you like honey? What's something you make or enjoy that calls for honey?

I do like honey. I prefer a splash of milk in my hot tea, but if I'm not feeling well I'll go the honey and lemon route. I have plain Greek yogurt with granola and honey drizzled over the top for breakfast pretty often. I really like hot honey and add that to my baked Boursin appetizer. Also really good on pizza.

3. "Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body." Proverbs 16:24

What's a proverb you love, or one that speaks to you or has helped you in some way?

The Bible is full of Proverbs, a whole book in fact, if that helps with your answer. The word proverb is defined as 'a short pithy saying in general use, stating a general truth or piece of advice'

One of my favorites is Proverbs 10:19-

"Where words are many transgression is not lacking. But he who restrains his lips is prudent." It reminds me to think before I speak. I have this one memorized.

4. Tell us about a 'sweet' moment in your life recently that filled you with joy, gratitude, or peace.

Sunday night hubs and I hung out with the grands at their house because their momma wanted to go to something at their church and her hubs was on-call, aka working. My granddaughter loves her little purse (it's a shoulder bag lol) and she put it on and then grabbed my hand and told me to get my purse, and then we walked around the yard like that, holding hands with our purses on our shoulders.

The sweetness of a granddaughter who is her mother's mini in so many ways cannot be overstated.

5. When you were a child, what did you want to 'be' when you grew up? How close did you come to that?

A nurse, a teacher, a mom.

Pretty close...I switched my major from nursing to speech pathology my sophomore year of uni and never looked back.

I enjoyed working, but being a stay at home mom was the real desire of my heart. So thankful this was something I was able to do.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

The band is back together...

  1. I've never thought to add a drizzle to pizza but that sounds delicious.
That's such a sweet moment with your grandaughter, it won't be long until you are off on a shopping spree together with your purses.
Thanks for the questions, I really enjoy answering them, have a lovely week.

  2. What a priceless memory with your adorable granddaughter! I need to get that verse in Proverbs framed too! Sometimes my words come out of my mouth without a lot of thought beforehand.

  3. Great picture! I'm sure you're heart is overflowing with being able to see one of your daughters and her family practically whenever you want to after years of not living close. Your moment with your granddaughter does sound so sweet! Your proverb is a good one- I enjoyed looking up various proverbs. I don't have a "go to" one; I enjoyed my "research" for that particular prompt! Thanks for the link up and have a great day :).

  4. I like the sound of the type of busy you are experiencing. The fun kind is the best kind.
Honey and lemon is great for when you are not feeling well.
Aww! What a sweet moment with your granddaughter.

  5. Love that photo! And yes little granddaughters love having a purse to put things in. Mine squirreled away the £1 coin I keep in the car for the shopping trolley (cart) last week.

  8. Yes, you are having a fun kinda busy which is wonderful. I find that very interesting the places you like to use honey. I'll have to give that a try. I do greek yogurt with oatmeal. I like the proverb you picked. That is just too cute with you and your granddaughter with your purses. Yes, a stay at home mom is a wonderful blessing for you and the children. Your random is beautiful. Enjoy your day.

  9. Your "busy" is certainly the best kind of busy, for sure! I love that last photo of your 'band'!! I can picture you and your little mini-she walking around the yard with your purses. So darn cute. I miss easier days and fun with the grands when they were little. Enjoy every minute... I know you do!! xo

    1. This is a park about five minutes from our house, but yes the lake has many sandy beaches. There are many islands in the lake with beaches, some better than others.

  14. Your breakfast sounds a lot like my son's breakfast (tough he adds a touch of unsweetened coconut on top). I work very hard to make sure we're rarely busy. I like a lot of downtime between activities.

  18. That's something I never wanted, a stay at home mom ! I would have gone crazy. I loved my work in the office, but no household work ! For that I had a real nice cleaning lady.

    1. I love this!!! I'm so glad we live in a day and age where many women have that choice :). Growing up my sister always said, "I can't believe you'd go through all this school just to 'stay at home' and I said, 'I'll watch your kids too' and a dozen years or so later, that is what happened!! We both were fortunate enough to "get" to do what we thought was best for our families :)

  19. This was such a heartwarming Hodgepodge read! 😊 I really enjoyed your answers — especially the sweet story about your granddaughter and the purse moment. That image of the two of you walking hand in hand just melted my heart. It’s amazing how the smallest gestures can leave the biggest impressions. Your proverb choice from 10:19 is so wise and a great reminder — I might just borrow that one to memorize too! Also, I’m curious about hot honey on pizza now — sounds like a flavor adventure I need to try. And I completely agree, life may be busy, but it’s the “fun” kind when it involves people we love. Thanks for sharing your joy and wisdom this week!

  22. I loved your answers. Our granddaughter has a tiny shopping basket here and sometimes we pretend like we're going to the store and we look in my cupboards for things to buy.
