Weekend?

So I think we had a weekend.  Honestly it went by in such a blur, I'm not sure it can be called a weekend, but it's Monday and I'm headed to the dentist so yeah, the weekend has definitely come and gone.

Hubs arrived home from Arizona around 1:30 in the morning Friday night. Wait, that would make it Saturday morning.  I cannot say for certain because I was in a deep deep sleep on our very comfy couch.  I'd told hubs to text me when he was leaving the airport so I could unlock the garage door for him.  That way he wouldn't have to fumble with a key and luggage in the pitch black NJ countryside, because I'm helpful like that.  Except when I'm not.  I guess he did text me because-

Course I never heard a thing even though I'd purposely set my phone right beside my head and turned the ringer all the way up. Next thing I know the kitchen lights are on and hubs is talking.  Have I told you this getting up with the crows is kicking my behind? Also I feel the need to point out that I managed a screen shot here. It's possible I had to phone my daughter to ask her how to do that
again, but still it feels like a small win.

Saturday we awoke to an absolutely gorgeous day. Sunshine and temperatures close to 60 degrees. In November!

I know!

We sipped coffee and had breakfast, then decided to get out for a walk. It was far too pretty to stay indoors.

We took our pup to her happy place, a nearby nature preserve, and afterwards stopped in our local pub to split an order of nachos and soak up the sun in their outdoor seating. I'd show you a picture of my pup but it's on my good camera, and for some reason the camera is not connecting to our computer.

The technology war rages on.

We came home to
nap on the couchwatch football, and may I just say the Georgia-Auburn game is everything I love about SEC football. If you missed it, you missed a play that will likely be talked about for years to come. Uh-may-zing. When the game ended we went out to dinner because cooking is not permitted in a weekend that's really a day. My rules. Hubs agrees.

On Sunday hubs needed to go buy some new running shoes, re-pack his suitcase, and head back to the airport, so that's what we did. While he was shoe shopping I popped in to Target to pick up a few more little bits and pieces for my Operation Christmas Child Shoebox. My ladies bible study group is packing boxes on Tuesday morning so I grabbed a few extra items for those.  If you have no idea what I'm talking about, click here to get details. It's not too late to pack a box, if you haven't already.

And that my friends was the weekend.  Short and sweet and filled with just enough happies to get me through an hour in the dentist chair today.  So how was your weekend?

Monday kind of stuff

Sometimes it's good to begin a new week with a list.
This is one of those times-

1. I have a dental appointment this morning.

What?
You thought this was going to be interesting?

I've been wearing the Invisilign trays for the past four months and today I'm finished with the lower teeth correction.
I'll be having a fixed retainer put in and no I am not fourteen.
The retainer is ultra thin and on the backside of my bottom teeth so pretty much invisible.
This is the latest and greatest recommendation for holding straightened teeth in place.
I wish it had been the recommended method back in 1975 when I had all the hardware taken off my teeth the first time, but better late than never.

I am super happy with the results.

I am also super happy to be done with the lower trays.
And especially all that extra saliva.

TMI for a Monday morning?

2. I was amazed at how much spring had sprung just 90 miles south of here.
My mom had daffodils popping up and buds on some trees.
When she walks out her front door she sees this-

and this-

We woke up to spitting snow.

I know.

When I walked out of my garage door this morning I saw this-

Trust me...it's way slicker than it looks.
And please just ignore those ugly black lawn bags sitting on the rocks.
They've been buried under snow since December and only came up for air this weekend.

On the bright side, the fence is still standing....

Still can't open it but at least we know its there and its upright.

It's becoming possible to avoid walking on ice out back.
The trick now is to avoid the mud.

Sigh.

3. That being said spring is trying to make an appearance here.
I know this is so because we've seen our very first sign-Alvin and the chipmunks have returned and are back entertaining us with their antics in the rock wall.
There is a family of five living there and they run and chase and dart in and out of the rocks just like a cartoon.
I guess they're a family.
I suppose they could just be a bunch of friends having a big time.

4. Work will begin on our Master Bath shower on Wednesday.
They will be removing tile and two walls of dry wall.
Oh what a lovely mess that will be.
Since my closet backs up to the shower wall I have added 'clean my closet' to my to do list.
I don't think they'll need in there but just in case, I don't want a stranger judging my shoe obsession habit.

5. Hubs and I went to see Just go With It on Saturday.
Jennifer Anniston is so cute.

She and I have the same figure you know.
Well, we would if I worked out 8 hours a day every day.

After the movie ended we stopped somewhere locally to have a bite to eat and there was live music playing so we sat some more.
They were an 80s band and they were pretty good.

I have not been out late listening to live music in a long long, long time.

It was fun.

And my girls would say 11 o'clock isn't late but hey, it is when you're me.

Enjoy your Monday!

My Highlight Reel

In honor of the big game I thought I'd be all NFL- like and give you my weekend highlight reel. It was pretty quiet here ...we were supposed to be snowed in on Saturday but not a flake fell. Not a single solitary flake. None. The hubs flew to South Carolina Friday evening to buy a car for Daughter 2. Let's take a moment and look at this from another angle...

hubs got to spend the weekend with the daughters
daughter2 took possession of her very first car
hubs and daughters 1 and 2 had a lovely meal in an Indian restaurant

and me?
I was home in my pajamas cleaning and organizing my pantry, kitchen cabinets, refrigerator and freezer.
Something is very very wrong with that picture.

Back to my highlight reel...husband got lucky and was put on an earlier flight Sunday so he arrived home before the pre-game pre-game pre-game show. I made yummy pulled pork bbq and peanut butter heath bar cookies so it felt superbowlish even though it was just the two of us in our pjs on the couch rooting for the Colts who did not win btw.

Who thought there were too many commercials in the Superbowl?
Who was not impressed with said commercials?
Who did not see the big deal about the Tim Tebow ad?
Who thought Carrie Underwood belted out the National Anthem without so much as a hiccup?
Who thought she was completely in touch with her Country Western Singer self in that outfit?
Who felt proud to see the troops standing at attention on a military base half a world away?
Who thought if they heard the words Dorito and Bud Light one more time they might scream?
Who wished they were in warm and sunny Miami?
Who thought Pete and Roger were showing their age just a wee bit?
Who thought the halftime light show and lasers were very cool?
Who thought it was ironic that a British band who doesn't really love American football was playing the halftime show at the Superbowl?
Who thought the drummer looked young enough to be Pete's grandson?
Who has a husband who wants to play the drums?
Who still loves the song Teenage Wasteland?
Who wanted to yell do-over when the Saints pulled off that crazy onside kick?
Who wanted to cry when Peyton threw that interception?
Who appreciated the tone and the polite comments made by the Colts coach after the game?
Who thought Drew Brees standing teary eyed holding his positively adorable baby boy was one of the sweetest moments on tv in recent memory?
Who is sorry to say goodbye to the NFL for the season?
Who hates the fact that she has to go to the dentist today?

oh wait...
that'll be next weeks reel.
