No Getting Rid Of The Hodgepodge

Welcome to the Wednesday Hodgepodge! If you've answered this week's questions add your link at the end of my post, and then be sure to leave a comment for the blogger before you. That's what good neighbors do here on From This Side Of The Pond-

1.What's something in your house you'd like to get rid of, but can't?

We have some furniture in our lower garage bay I've been holding on to thinking Daughter2 may want once she's married. Or she may not and that's okay, but I'm not doing anything about it until I know for sure.

2. When is the last time you experienced a sense of nostalgia? Elaborate.

When my sister and brother were here we were sitting around the table talking and sharing some memories of a trip we took with cousins to an amusement park nearly fifty years ago.

How my brother rode a roller coaster with my cousin and that particular cousin screamed he was going to die at the top of his lungs the entire ride. How my sister hated the roller coaster and then the operator forgot to stop the cart and she had to go around again.

There was more but it all left me feeling a bit nostalgic for the magic of childhood, our family of six around the dinner table on a school night, siblings asleep in the same upstairs...

3. You're only allowed three apps on your smart phone or tablet...which three do you keep?

This is a toughie! If you make me choose I'll go with Instagram, Music, and then FaceTime because I need this face in my everyday-

4. July 11th is National Blueberry Muffin Day. Who knew? Do you like blueberry muffins? If you were going to have a muffin would blueberry be your choice? What's the last thing you baked?

Honestly I don't love muffins. They're usually too heavy and 'bready' for me so if I'm having a muffin I'd prefer a mini. A blueberry muffin is okay, but I'd rather have cranberry-orange. Actually I'd rather have a bagel, but that wasn't the question.

The last thing I baked were fresh strawberry cupcakes for my brother-in-law's birthday a few days ago. I linked the recipe in Monday's post so you'll need to hop over there if you're curious. They were delish!

5. What's the biggest way you've changed since you were a child? In what way are you still the same?

Biggest way I've changed? Well I can't eat whatever I want whenever I want. Is that an answer?

While I'm still a great big chicken about so many things I know I'm braver in a lot of ways too. And I'm definitely stronger, both mentally and physically. My mom pointed out to me recently that I've got muscles in my legs. To quote her, 'they don't look like toothpicks anymore'.

6.  Insert your own random thought here.

Daughter2 bought a life jacket for her pup and we thought we'd see what she thought of the water...

Let's just say she's more of an indoor girl.

  3. That Tommy is adorable! He gets cuter and cuter with each new picture that I see!
Is Daughter #2's doggy a dachshund? That long body sure looks like it! I don't recall having seen her before. What's her (his) name?

  5. A life jacket for a dog? Don't they swim? That is just the cutest photo!! Fun childhood memories. Childhood was magic at my place too, for which I'm so thankful. Thanks for the Hodgepodge. So glad you're not throwing it out! :-)

  6. I forgot all about FaceTime. My daughter and grandson use Messenger to video chat, so I’d definitely have to keep that app. Your grandson is adorable.

  7. Hi, Joyce!

Great answers and I love the picture of your granddaughter.
I think we all would keep Facebook or FaceTime.

  8. LOL, indoor girl!!!!!
FaceTime, I forgot about that one! It sure makes the distance closer :)
Sitting around the table talking is one of my favorite things.

  9. I can't believe that your grandson is almost a year old! How did that year go by so quickly? He gets more adorable with each picture you post!

  10. I can see why you would want to keep the Facetime app! So, so thankful for the technology we have to be able to stay better connected to our loved ones who live far away. I can't quite wrap my mind around how difficult it must have been back in the day when our country was being settled, and when someone moved you really didn't know if you'd ever see or hear from them again.

  11. Oh the thrill of those roller coasters! And I miss those daily meals around the table, too. How could I forget about FaceTime? Of course you wouldn't want to not be able to see that sweet face! He's sooooo cute. The little dog in the water, too. Soooo funny. My husband tried to make a life jacket for our little dachshunds about 48 years ago.

  13. Gosh we do have some stuff that Amber and Dylan left behind. I'm just too lazy to follow through on getting rid of it! I still have your other post to read so I will check out the recipe. True about not eating whatever we want. Way to go on those muscles!! Cute pup. Definitely looks like she wasn't enjoying it.

  14. What a cutie pie your grandson is! Yes you want lots of face time with that little love bug.

  15. That would have been me on top of that roller coaster screaming at the top of my lungs. I rode one about 7 times in a row when I was a kid and that did me in forever...lol! Tommy is getting cuter by the day! Thanks for another great Hodgepodge, Joyce.

  16. I can see why you'd want to look at that adorable face every day! I've never seen a dog in a life vest before. She doesn't look completely horrified at being in the water. I'm NOT a fan of roller coasters! I used to like those spin-you-around-real-fast rides, but my 47 year-old body doesn't care for those anymore. As always, thanks for hosting!

  17. A dog that doesn't like water? The life jacket is pretty amazing though! That child is so adorable. Beyond 'cute'. You gave us a fun HP today, Joyce! Thanks so much!!

  18. Pictures of kids and dogs are always a hit with me. Regarding the muffins, can I have yours? Thanks. Now please pass the butter.

  19. I used to love roller coasters, but I haven't been on one in at least 30 years, so I have no idea if I would still enjoy the ride.

Yes, I can see why you would want to see that sweet little face via Face Time every day!

Love the life jacket for the pup!

Bagels are too dense for me. Whenever I feel one, I feel totally bloated.

    Blessings,
    Patti
