Welcome to this week's edition of The Wednesday Hodgepodge. If you've answered today's questions add your link at the end of my blog, then leave a comment for the blogger before you. Here we go...
1. The Hodgepodge lands on National Picnic Day...will you celebrate? Do you enjoy picnics? Dining out of doors picnic or otherwise? What are three or four things I'd find in your picnic basket?2. A time recently where you felt 'antsy'?
I'm not a restless person so this is a tough one. I suppose I feel a little antsy about getting the 'kids' moved into their new house. Everything has gone super smoothly so far but we're all just anxious to have the keys handed over and get them settled. So many hoops to jump through in a move, and they have furniture in storage and some belongings here and some at the in-laws and it's not really my donut, but I feel a little antsy with all the boxes that have needed ticking. They've pretty much all been ticked at this point so just waiting now for closing day to arrive.
3. As the saying goes...'when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.' Do you like lemonade? When did you recently need to make lemonade out of lemons, figuratively speaking?
Well I suppose Easter Sunday might qualify. We envisioned a full pew at church and a full table for dinner, but my son-in-law ended up missing the whole day. There was no choice but to roll with it, he was on call and ended up having a very busy day, which I guess is par for the course on a holiday weekend. We had a nice time with his mom, dad, sister, and brother-in-law though. This is how life goes sometimes and in general we're good at making the most of things. I told my grandsons we might need to make a 'flat Daddy' to hold up in family photos when he's working.
I do like lemonade, but what I really like is an Arnold Palmer-half lemonade/half iced tea.
5. Favorite thing about the 'space' you're sitting in right now?
I'm in my office and my favorite thing about it is the quiet.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
I enjoyed posting some Easter throwbacks in this space in the weeks leading up to the day, and I think I might do the same now for Mother's Day which is the next holiday on tap. There are just three Wednesdays before Mother's Day is here, which is hard to believe but the calendar doesn't lie.
I cut myself some slack on Wednesdays in the A-Z Blog Challenge and work the Wednesday letters in to my random thought space too. Two posts on Hodgepodge Day would be one too many for me. Here goes-
T is for time passages
'the process of time going past'
My very first Mother's Day with the one who made me a momma...
And here's that same little girl on her very first Mother's Day, with the one who made her a momma...
No idea why my link posted twice. Sorry about that. Another good set of questions Joyce and a nice take on letter T. Only 6 more to go!
ReplyDeleteWe were forcast rain here today too but so far it's dry and sunny.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the kids and their new house. I hope it all goes smoothly.
So sorry your son in law had to miss most of Easter Sunday.
What lovely photos.
I like to eat outside, too, but around here, it seems like we only have a handful of days when "everything" cooperates. I guess that makes those days (and meals!) all the more special. I hope that everything continues to go smoothly for your daughter's move. Hopefully you won't need a "flat dad" on the day of the move!! Love the throwback pics- have a great day and thanks for the 'podge link up!
ReplyDeleteI love how you always have the throw back pictures on hand and I so see the resemblance between you, your daughters and grand daughters- just beautiful! I love the quiet of my office too :)
ReplyDeleteI've never heard "it's not my donut" but I like it. My husband likes to say "it's your booger, you pick it" - ewwwwwww
ReplyDeleteI can agree with most of your answers except I do have a tendency to get anxious about things!
Concrete no made me laugh…& same! Haha love the Mother’s Day photos.
ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed your Easter throwbacks and I love those Mother's Day photos!
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting us each week! I liked what you said about rolling with it; sometimes that's all we can do, right?
ReplyDeleteI hope all goes okay with the move. I'm sure the kids are excited! Thanks for hosting and enjoy the rest of your week!
ReplyDeleteThanks for getting the Al Stewart song "Time Passages" stuck in my head! I like your pic for T though; I get a little teary-eyed when I think how old my kids are getting and at some point, I will watch them become parents and REALLY feel it.
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely pictures! I sing the song by Steve Winwood "Roll With It" when things get tough or off-kilter. I'm not a singer so the looks from family are hilarious. I'm w/ you on the hard NO, like concrete!
ReplyDeleteAw, sweet throw back pictures!
ReplyDeleteHa ha, I've been brain dead since my Easter responsibilities and just realized I didn't answer question #5. Oye. It is tough when someone has a occupation that doesn't care what holiday it is. When Greg was doing his residency I had to go to church alone with the kids every Sunday and that was weird. When our son had to work on the southern border for several months we did make a flat Stanley kind of photo of him for our family shots! Smiling about how hard your no is. Love the momma and daughter shots. Praying as I type for a smooth transition from your house to their home.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoy picnics and your basket is filled with great items to eat. Hope they get settled into their new home soon. Sorry that you son-in-law had to miss the celebration with you, however, it sounds like a nice gathering. That's funny about the flat daddy! I agree with your answer on the space ship flight. Glad you enjoyed your office. Those photos are so sweet. Have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteA hard no to space travel for me too. ;-)
ReplyDeleteWe enjoy eating outside too. We do a lot of it and it is coming soon here to Wisconsin. :-) Cannot wait. I already have my first kayaking trip planned. We always enjoy a picnic after overlooking the lake we paddled.
Hope the rest of the move goes smoothly - moving is something that makes even the most laid-back person antsy in some way! I think charcuterie style picnics will be something I do more often now too. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI hope the house move goes smoothly, I imagine it's been quite stressful.
ReplyDeleteA boat picnic sounds like fun!
Those Mother's Day photos are just lovely, what beautiful memories to capture.
OH yes waiting for big life events like a move makes me antsy too; there are always so many hoops or moving pieces or red tape to get through that it can be nerve wracking. My favorite is an Arnold Palmer too; that is the perfect spring/summer drink.
ReplyDeleteI don't guess I realized/thought about Mother's Day being so close. I hope all goes smoothly as y'all wait for the kid's closing day. There are a lot of boxes to check off in a move! I'm ready for the part where I can start putting pictures on the wall and finding new homes for all the things.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the questions!
My favorite food to eat outdoors is chicken salad on a croissant. And like you, I would not want to do that "space" flight. Even flying the airlines is not the fun it used to be -- and I come from an aviation family.
ReplyDeleteI love the design and color of your long ago dress in the first photo with your daughter. And the very cute photo of her with her own darling baby girl. Such sweet memories. // Haha, your idea of the "flat daddy" just gave me an idea. Ohhhhh, my family is gonna get it now. Hahaha! Havea very wonderful and blessed day, Joyce!
ReplyDeleteMy son, Joey, loves the Arnold Palmer mixture, too. I enjoy eating outside and grabbing take-out to eat outside is a great thing to do. The work picnic, to me, means packing a basket (or bags) with lots of food and plates and beverages and lugging it from a parking lot to a park bench or a distant location... then lugging it all back to the car. Too old and lazy for that anymore! LOL I always love your photos, Joyce!
