On My Honor its the Hodgepodge Volume 72

Welcome to the Wednesday Hodgepodge. So glad you decided to play along today...everybody's welcome in the HP! Answer the questions on your own blog or facebook page then add your link at the end of my post. Be sure to check out what everyone else had to say too.

Here are my answers-

1. What's the last job you did that required elbow grease?

Cleaning my cooktop. I hate that job and normally hubs takes care of it because he excels at it and also because he kind of likes jobs that require elbow grease. Yay hubs!

2. March Madness, aka the men's Division I basketball championship, is nearing an end...what sort of 'madness' has your house seen this month?

Well the travel bookings have been a little on the 'mad' side in March. I've spent the past month booking air and train transport and/or accommodations for Easter, Daughter2's university graduation, plus a post graduation vacation. Oh, and we've also leased an apartment for daughter2 for post college life. Plus, we've actually traveled. I know! You'll have to wait for April to hear all about that.

3. What's your favorite shop for browsing?

There's a little gift shop in the next town over that I like to wander around in when I have time. If we're talking about the mall I'd say Williams Sonoma or Nordstroms shoe department.

4. Is there ever a time when giving up makes sense?

Tough question. I think it all depends what you're giving up on. Marriage? A mortgage you can't pay? A wayward child? I can't lump all these eggs into the same basket. I'm sure the answer to the original question is yes, but only sometimes, not always.

5. What's a song you love that contains the name of a city, state or country in its title?

You know I can't choose just one, right?

Hotel California by the Eagles
Carolina in My Mind by James Taylor

And of course Please Come to Boston by Dave Loggins... 'cuz I am the number one fan of the man from Tennessee.

6. When did you first begin using a computer?

I can't remember exactly what year it was but sometime in the mid-90's. I do know I wasn't on it much. Back then my girls mostly played Oregon Trail and used the paintbox. I don't think I really 'got it' in those early days.

As opposed to now when I'm a technological wizard.

7. Did you buy girl scout cookies this year? What's your favorite?

I did buy girl scout cookies this year. My plan was to send them to my girls but they both bought some on their own. Hmmm...what to do now? Ha. My favorites are Samoas and Tagalongs.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

I'm participating in the April A-Z blog challenge again this year. I loved it last year and really enjoyed the alphabet theme. It's not too late to sign up and join the party. Click the A-Z button on my sidebar for more details and be sure to watch for my posts from A-Z beginning April 1st. Let me know if you are playing too.

  1. I did the A-Z challenge with you last year, I really enjoyed it. Have fun. I'm doing a photo challenge during april this year, I think it might be too much to try and add the A-Z to it too. But maybe.....

  2. I love Carolina in My Mind, well really I think I love all of James Taylor's songs :)

  3. Those are all some of my favorite songs! I'm a huge Eagles and James Taylor fan! You're going to make us wait until April to hear about your travels? Talk about agony! Have a wonderful day, Joyce!

  4. Where do you come up with your questions? Sounds like a lot of your A-Z challenge will be about traveling! Have fun.

  5. Oregon Trail... THE original gamer experience! :) haha!

  6. I remember Oregon Trail! My kids loved that and Where in the World is Carmen San Diego! Fun times when the games were much easier to navigate!

  7. Ah, I also love Please Come to Boston. And of course, because Kenny also did it, the kids know it too.
And I think we must have had our computers delivered on the same day! With the same games loaded! Ha!
Have a great week. I know you will. :)

  8. A-Z sounds interesting, but there are already 1300+ participants! The introvert in me is a little scared away. That plus, I really don't have time to squeeze anther blog thing in right now. I'll definitely be reading along!

I used computers for work, doing graphics stuff (television) from 90 on, but didn't own my first PC until 97 because I was spending too much for computer time at Kinkos! I love the Samoas too!

  9. Hotel accommodations for graduations-on my list also-with #2 daughter graduating this year, Timke goes by too fast for me now a days.

  10. I used to play wheel of fortune on the old style computer and that was about it. I used on at work but really lintier back in that day! I read about the a to z challenge....I've been so bad a challenges lately.....thinking about this one! Have a wonderful Wednesday!

  11. You are the busiest one woman and seem to do such a great job balancing all of it. Sounds like we have lots to hear about in April.

Enjoyed your questions as always and appreciate your hosting us each week. Blessings on the rest of your week!

  12. I'm doing the A-Z challenge too! Looking forward to it.

  13. GS cookies freeze well....

I love "Please Come to Boston". The version by Kenny Chesney.

I remember when Jim was trying to help me with the computer....these days its me helping him...I do all of my work for the clubs on the computer so I'm pretty familiar with Word....we both love spell check.

I think I'll check out the blog challenge.
    Mama Bear

  14. I'm doing the A-Z challenge this year - looking forward to it.

  15. My hubby is the designated stove top cleaner, too! He's very good at it :)

Wow, you have been busy! (Kathy)

  16. I'm doing the A-Z Challenge again this year too! Can't wait to see how we're going to fit the Hodge Podge in! LOL

Will D2 be staying in SC? DoodleBug will be a senior next year and she just told me the other night that she is not ready to be a senior because she is having too much fun being in college! I get it- I was the same way.

Love your comment about being a technological wizard. :)

  17. Ok, I am going to bite. I enjoyed yours last year and so I am taking the plunge and joining you on the A-Z challenge.

  18. Wow, that is definitely March Madness. I am not good at that stuff. I leave it to Mark but when he was in Europe I had to buckle down and work on some travel issues :( I really love Hotel California, great song! The one thing I remember from back then on the computer is that you could actually talk to a human who helped you with internet issues.

  19. Well it seem like we once again have a lot in common. My husband is the resident cooktop cleaner, and to that I say amen. I also love browsing through Williams Sonoma and it is my favorite shop to get a gift from. Finally, but most importantly my favorite Girl Scout cookies are Samoas and Tagalongs, but didn't get any this year...that probably is a good thing. :)

  20. Ooooh. Williams Sonoma. Wouldn't I love a shopping spree there. A BIG shopping spree.

  21. You know I'm doing the A-Z. The hardest thing has been picking a theme. I have changed my mind three times, and have what--3 days left to settle on one? What is it about the so-called tough jobs like cleaning cooktops that "draws" certain people to them? The challenge? The satisfaction that it's done? I can relate, but my "hard job" ...yeah picking this A-Z blog challenge theme! Life is rough.

  22. i think i am going to do the a-z challenge...its sounds really fun.

  23. I did not get around in time to do the Hodgepodge this week, enjoyed your answers tho! I am going to try the A-z challenge in April. We do not have any travel plans or anything big going on so it should be fun!
    until next time... nel

  24. Thanks for the information about the A to Z Challenge. It sounds like fun and I can find a way to gear it to genealogy posts, too. Thanks again!

    Have a great week!

  25. I love Tagalongs!! Even better than the thin mints. Hope you're having nice spring weather, our rain should be over soon. I hope so because Monday's my birthday. :)
