Anyway, it's hot and it's Thursday and since I'll be spending the weekend with friends from my days as a camp counselor I thought I'd link up with Thursday Thirteen and post a list. Do those thoughts add up? I don't know if Point A + Point B = Point C but I said it was hot and I've inhaled a little too much Murphy's Oil Soap so here we go...
1. The proper way to execute the Draw stroke, J-stroke and Forward Sweep in a canoe
2. Alllll the verses to Madalina Catalina
3. The essential ingredients to the world's best campfire stew
4. How to make a candle in the sand
5. That bug juice contains no actual bugs...most of the time
6. Cleaning a latrine builds character
7. How to cultivate and nurture friendships that will last a lifetime
8. Money doesn't equal happiness
9. Dough + stick+ fire+ jam=deliciousness
10. How to step outside my comfort zone
11. Poison ivy is wretched
12. The song of the whippoorwill
13. Jesus Never Fails

ReplyDeleteYou're funny. Your intro made perfect sense to me, which either means you truly ARE writing coherent sentences, or I'm sniffin' some serious bottles myself.
ReplyDeleteGood things to learn. I never went to camp, but I was a counselor one time as an adult and I discovered, camp is not my thing. My husband lived at camp as a kid and then became counselor and then actually ran the camp as an adult multiple times even for several years after we were married. My girls have attended camp ever since they were old enough and have been Jr. counselors even. My oldest is now working the summer at an out of state international camp and is loving it. And this week my youngest is in Senior High Camp. So in other words my whole family loves camp except me! haha Guess I should have tried it as a teenager and maybe I would feel different about it.
ReplyDeleteGlad you learned so many life lessons and I think my girls are too.
i never attended camp until i was an adult as a counselor...i missed a lot as a child b/c i didn't want to leave mama. ho hum...it is a great time, no makeup and all!
ReplyDeleteLove the lessons list. And cannot wait to see pictures and hear about your weekend! Have a great time!
ReplyDeletePoison ivy is truly wretched, I bet none of our politicians have ever cleaned a latrine. Have a great weekend, will wait for pics.
ReplyDeleteSo, any plans to be a camp counselor again soon? :)
ReplyDeleteHave a fun weekend with old friends! And AMEN to number 13.
ReplyDeleteThese sound like some great things to know to carry you through whatever comes your way in life. I have to admit that I have no idea how to make a candle in the sand.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I love that lessons list too! Nothing like being a cam counselor. Brings back good memories to me too. :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat listens learned....I'm going to try that bathroom cleaning builds character on Katelyn and see if I get an eye roll! lol! Have a wonderful weekend with your ol camp pals....I can just hear the laughter now!
ReplyDeleteI loved the song Madalina Catalina....I have long since forgotten all the words....but loved it when I was 12. Camp counselor brings back such good memories for me. Have a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteThat's funny, I did a lot of the same stuff one day this week when I was hostage at home waiting for a delivery!
