A Day in the Life

Today is one of those days where I'd love to stay in my PJ's and spend the whole day writing. Instead I need to take the dog for a haircut and then schlep back to the groomers later in the day to collect her sassy self, and then pick up the dry cleaning before coming home to get ready for a dinner out with friends.

And since the groomer is just a hop, skip, and a jump down the road from my gym it only makes sense to show my face there too. Then there is an insurance question to be dealt with, which will mean an hour on the phone, because we all know you can't call your agent for a simple question without them feeling the need to 'review your policies'.

And, while I made a dent in the deep clean yesterday, it was just that-a dent. Daughter1 is coming home for the weekend which means I need to tackle that end of the house, and when I clean I quite often get sidetracked into organizing a closet or looking through pictures I've happened upon or really anything but the dusting and the vacuuming.

I'm not alone in that am I?

Plus there are bills to be paid, and travel logistics to be sorted and booked, and some emails needing a reply.  On top of that in order to meet friends for a highly anticipated curry this evening we have to leave tinytown, so I'll be collecting the wife half of the couple and then we'll trek out to meet the husbands for dinner at an Indian restaurant in a town a little further away.

I will get excited about that curry after all of the above is behind me today.

So, I'm not in my PJ's, I'm in my work out clothes instead, and that's okay too. A big part of writing for me is the large chunk of thinking time I need to organize my thoughts, and running on a treadmill or pushing a vacuum are as good a place as any for that I suppose.

Well, not as good as a beach but almost.

Actually, not even almost, but good enough.

  1. I tend to have my writing done in my head while going about my day -before I even sit down at the computer. The words never come as easily if I try to come up with something last minute. Who knew cleaning and running errands cold have such results :-)

  4. No, you are not alone in that. Which is why some days it takes me twice as long to accomplish chores. Oh well, it makes it more interesting anyway.
I should try that treadmill thinking. Or not. :)

  5. I wrote half of a blog post in my head whilst running/walking this morning. Now if I could just get it written out . . .

Enjoy your curry. I love Indian food. It's the only foreign country (other than Mexico which doesn't count) that I've actually visited so I have a fondness for the cuisine.

  6. Such a similar day for me. While out walking in the neighborhood, I settled or maybe was revealed would be better, some things upon which I have been pondering of late. After getting home and beginning to freshen up the place, words began to pour from my mind that has been totally absorbed with my broken heart of late. So, I just stopped and let those thoughts and words pour from my fingers and took advantage of blogging as a release. I'll get back to the house part later, but right now I need to focus on The Source. Have a great evening.

  7. Nope, you are not alone in that at all. It happens to me every single time. Like today. Ha! I tend to have thoughts when I'm walking or running or driving, etc... The problem is, I can't remember those thoughts later.

  8. Well sounds like you have a busy day planned. Isn't that just the way it is? I think things out in my head anyway, so guess I might as well be doing something else at the same time huh? Hope your day went well....

  9. You are definitely NOT alone, Joyce! I am right there with you! Here lately, there just never seems to be nearly enough time in the day to everything that I want or need to accomplish. So, I do what I can and let the rest take care of itself!:)

  12. I get distracted all the time when I'm doing one thing. I put something away and then spot another task that needs doing...pretty soon the house is just unfinished task after unfinished task! I think it's getting worse, too, the older I get.
