Welcome to this week's edition of The Wednesday Hodgepodge. If you've answered today's questions add your link at the end of my post, then leave a comment for your neighbor there. Here we go-
1. March 15th is known as The Ides of March, the date on which Julius Caesar was assassinated in 44 B.C....have you ever been to Rome? If so what did you love most about the city? If not, is this a place you'd like to visit? While I've been to other parts of Italy since, it's been 20 years since I set foot in Rome and I would not be opposed to going back.
2. 'Rome wasn't built in a day.' What project/activity/improvement (of any kind) do you have going on right now to which this saying might be applied?
We have some lingering bits and pieces to take care of in order for the outdoor space to be considered truly done. We still need the electrician to come out, still need to purchase and install a big fan, and add a couple of other decorative touches to make it feel complete.
3. Let's do a little this or that with some Italian foods...
- Caprese salad or Prosciuto with melon? Caprese salad
- Bruschetta or Antipasto? Antipasto
- lasagne or ravioli? Ravioli
- bolognese or Carbonara? Bolognese
- Risotto or gnocchi? Risotto
- tiramisu~gelato~cannoli? Tiramisu
4. Of the colors red, white, and green which would I find most prevalent in your home? Which one do you think is most flattering to you in terms of your wardrobe? Have you ever had your colors done? Is that something you'd be interested in doing?
I have a rug in my main living space with a very dark shade of red in it along with some navy and golds. I live on a lake, so while there's not a lot of green in my home decor there are a lot of windows, so you see a lot of green.
As far as my wardrobe goes...I love white pants, but it still feels too early to bring them out even though I don't think that 'Labor Day' rule applies anymore. Once it warms up here I'll be wearing a lot of white. I have never had my colors done but think it would be a fun thing to do. It was really popular to do this a few decades ago and it's true that with fashion everything eventually comes round again.
5. Life would be boring without____________________?
My hubs who still makes me laugh, nudges me to step out of my comfort zone, encourages me to write more, and is so sweet with the grands it makes my heart melt.
6. Insert our own random thought here.
This little guy turns ten on Friday, pictured here with his first love my Daughter1. He was hers before he was ours.
What a cute little dog! Loved seeing those family pictures from Rome! I bet that was a great trip for your family. Thanks for hosting!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great trip to Rome with your girls. That waterfall is an epic endeavor and so beautiful. Hope the last touches happen before full lake summer kicks in. It's great when a dog finds it's human. :)
ReplyDeleteYour dog is so cute.
ReplyDeleteThis was such a fun Hodgepodge; I love all your throwback photos.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing your photos of Rome. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, I do like your random. A faithful dog. xx oo
Lovely photo's with your answers this week. I love that you chose your husband as your life would be boring without, I chose books but my husband is a close second. Your dog looks like a very good boy.
ReplyDeleteYour dog is so cute! Great vacation pictures and that waterfall must sound so nice and looks great too!
ReplyDeleteI would spill on white pants as it is a proven fact that white is a magnet for all food. LOL.
ReplyDeleteWe have been to Rome twice. I would have to go for the gelato.. everytime. Loved the architecture and ruins.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet dog and a fun story of how you adopted him. Our older dog is 10 years old too. I loved the retro Rome pictures!
ReplyDeleteThere was so much to see in Rome but i definitely wouldn't go back. Paris is FAR nicer in my opinion. Although we did a day trip to Florence so I would love to go back and explore more there.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your answers! Cute pup!!
Oh I definitely love Paris and have been many times. But I also love Rome...very different cities, vibes, and culture. Both are wonderful places to visit.
DeleteI don't wear much white as it end up too dirty for me, great photos
ReplyDeleteI envy your photos of the coliseum. The day we were there with our tour group, it was pouring rain so we didn't get to explore it at all. Happy birthday to your sweet little brown dog!! xo
ReplyDeleteI love your photos from Rome - makes me want to visit even more! Happy Birthday to your sweet dog - he looks like such a good boy!
ReplyDeleteAs I married an Italian, I had to get used to the noise when they talk you could think that they are fighting if you don't understand the language. I like to wear white when I am brown in summer otherwise I would look like a white moth. Your dog is cute, my son has one too who loves to visit me and run around in our park ! I think I misunderstood the expression "had my colors done" I thought it was the hairs ! But you were brown and now you are blond (which suits you very well !)
ReplyDeleteLove the photos from Rome and I like your hair. Your water and rocks is so beautiful. I like your choices for the food items. Enjoy your white clothes when the weather gets nicer. Love your answer for #5. That is so sweet. Happy Birthday to your little brown dog.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your very cute pup!! What joy they bring to our lives...I hope there was a little extra treat for him today. I'm sure there was:) Happy Friday!!
ReplyDeleteI love visiting Italy and I enjoyed all your hodgepodge answers! My husbvand was born in Italy and so I absorbed so much of his culture as my onw, and learned how to make all his favorite recipes, which I also enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Rome. My late husband went there on a business trip and while sightseeing pulled a muscle in his leg. He left his comrades to limp back to the hotel. While soaking in the tub, he saw a cord within reach and without thinking, pulled it, wondering what it could be.
ReplyDeleteSoon enough he found out when a maid came knocking on the door to inquire if he was okay!!! He was very embarrassed and learned to be much more careful in the future about pulling cords and pressing buttons!
Your answers were fun and I love all the photos. Your pup is darling.
