Unless you count my birthday but seriously, what I want for my birthday is a weekend at home with no travel plans.
We did have a fun few days this past weekend though. A crab feast by the water with old friends is always fun. Yes we did have a crab feast by the water last weekend with family but crabs twice in one summer is not nearly enough. It will have to suffice.
Sigh.
That pest Irene got in the way of our original plans to be on a boat this weekend. The Bay has a lot of stuff floating around that doesn't belong there. Stuff like trees and branches and gunk that would make boating a bit iffy.
And this weather...what is up with the weather???
Thankfully we did get many splashes of sunshine on Saturday which we thoroughly enjoyed but we definitely have not seen enough sunshine on the East Coast lately.
We miss Maryland. We miss the water and boating and sunsets on the river and rafting up with friends and long naps under the shade of the bimini and picking crabs on a picnic table out back and sitting in a still silent cove watching the blue heron fly overhead and the water.
Did I mention the water?
Hubs and I are completely united in our love of the water.
Someday....
My DH & I are united, too, in our love for the water. I know I've said it before ... but I'll say it again ... we would have retired to the beach in a heartbeat ... if only that wouldn't have put us so far away from DD and her family.
ReplyDeleteWe definitely have Maryland on our list of places to go ... for the water and for the crabs! Seeing your picture of crabs has made me SO HUNGRY!
Hope you get your wish for your birthday.
I know. I miss the ocean. I think someday when I am an old lady I shall live by the sea.
ReplyDeleteoooohhhh, that's what i dream of also...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures. I love the water too. Unfortunately we didn't see too much of it on this trip to Florida, but we had fun anyway. Well, actually, we did see a lot of the water that was falling from the sky. lol
ReplyDeleteAhh. Yes, this weather has been insane. We were blessed to move into the farm last Sat with just slight drizzle every once in a while and then the skies opened up for a week. Of course, the only day we have to come into town (Thurs) is the day that all the flooding occurred in the DC area. An earthquake, hurricane and flooding. I'm truly done with it all. They said if the rain had been snow we would have gotten 12 feet! So, I'm thankful for the rain. Ha!
ReplyDeleteFor a short week-it certainly felt long here in the Northeast due to the crummy weather. Thank goodness the weekend was spared!!! Lovely photos. I too need to re-visit Maryland and see more of the state. Work sent me to Emmitsburg once. That's all I've seen.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a perfect weekend....if not home being on the water is second best! Love the sunset picture so peaceful.
ReplyDeleteI love the water, too! If I ever won the lottery (which I never play), I'd buy a condo on the beach--and a boat to go with it!
ReplyDeleteI feel obout the country woods like you do about the water. I love being in the country with all the trees, woods and wild life. Love it! You had a great weekend and I'm so happy for you.
ReplyDeleteYou're just in the wrong part of the East Coast! Come on down here where it's sunshine every day! And there are crabs and shrimp and I'll make she crab soup and shrimp and grits for y'all! Come on down!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so beautiful! The crabs look delish...
ReplyDeleteYour always so busy, I think that is awesome.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a great time and some great food!
Your weekends sound like ours. We were in church here for the first time in a month.
ReplyDeleteI wish we could get crab like that. The Midwest is too far from an ocean.
So pretty. I went to Maryland years ago. It was lovely. :)
