Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 283

I intended to blog yesterday but had to deal with window treatments instead. By deal with I mean talk hubs down from the ceiling when he saw the proposed cost. We've never done an entire house all at once before, but it sure makes me wish I were an expert seamstress. I'm generalizing here, but I feel like the cost of window treatments is always more than a little shocking to men. Same is true of wedding particulars, highlights in my hair, and decorative pillows.

Anyway, I may put up two posts today because while I'm not a gifted seamstress (drat!) I am a blogger and bloggers blog. In the meantime here are the questions to this week's Wednesday Hodgepodge. Answer on your own blog then hop back here Wednesday to share answers with the rest of the world. See you there-

1. What would you say is the best and worst thing about moving house?

2. What's moved you recently?

3. Do you feel your life is moving forward, backward, or is on hold? How so?

4. On the move, move mountains, get a move on, it's your move, or bust a move...which phrase best applies to some aspect of your life right now? Explain.

5. What song makes you want to get up and move?

6. Your favorite snack to grab when you're 'on the move'?

7. What one accessory makes your house feel like home?

8. Insert your own random thought here.

  1. Window treatments, yes, always shockingly expensive. Back in our corporate employment days when they required a cross country move, we didn't have to pay for them. But now that we are retired, it's a whole different story.

  2. Oh man, I feel you! I always 'intend' to blog. And window treatments - yeah, yikes. My 'argument' with the Hubby was based on the fact that if done right, they were/are a one time expense. If I did them 'half way' I'd do them again and they insulate the house thus saving on heat/cooling and they 'frame' the view outside and enhance the interior. Ha. They'll be fabulous!

  3. I understand. I've never had custom drapes with one exception. When we lived in Alexandria, VA, we had a beautiful 2,000+ sq. ft. townhouse condo with wonderful neighbors on each side of us (with whom we are still friends). Cathy was completely redecorating her house and was donating her beautiful (looked like new) drapes from her living room. I asked her to just donate them to me and she could still visit them. We laughed and she handed them over. Our windows were the exact same size, so her 'old' custom drapes fit my windows perfectly and matched our furniture just as perfectly. Since then, standard sizes from a catalog. To do more would cause Joe to wonder about my sanity. However, if we were building a new house....I would get those custom drapes. Looking forward to your photos!!

  5. Oh, my goodness, Tommy almost had a stroke as well. The Plantation Shutters across the front were unreal but at least it was a one time expense for us as they will definitely last the time we live here. But, when they were all installed he was most pleased. I'm so excited for you!

  6. I don't know exactly what a "window treatment" is, but if it concerns isolation against the cold, then it is really worthwhile to spend money, you will feel the difference in the heating costs !
My hodgepodge is ready I wait for the link up !
