Hodgepodge Madness

Welcome to this week's edition of The Wednesday Hodgepodge. If you've answered today's questions, add your link at the end of my post, then leave a comment for the blogger before you. Here we go-

From this Side of the Pond
1.What do you love about your life right now?

Grandchildren. I'm a broken record I know.

2. March 26th is National Spinach Day...are you a fan? If so, how do you like yours prepared/served?

I couldn't stand spinach as a child, but I love it now. I like a spinach salad, but also love it sauteed and topped with a splash of apple cider vinegar.

3. In this current season would you say you need to spend more time looking inward or that you need to get out of your head? Tell us why.

Normally I'm way too much in my head, but life has been spinning wildly since November of last year, and I still feel like I need to sit down and regroup for 2024.

4. Are you following the 'March Madness' madness? (That's US college basketball in case you're out of the loop) What's something that feels like actual madness to you right now?

We enjoy following March Madness in our house. We make brackets and create a family group where we see who has the most points, no money involved, just bragging rights for the winner. We're big Tennessee fans and they're still in it, so that's been fun plus super nerve-wracking to watch.

What feels like actual madness to me right now? hard to choose but I guess the chaos at the border, really the actual lack of borders (hence the very definition of a country) would rank right up there. I don't really understand why it's controversial or cruel to know who's entering our country or to expect people to follow the law.

I  feel like I ranted about this in another post recently, but it continues to be maddening.

5. How will you celebrate the Easter/Passover holiday this year?

A couple of years ago some neighbors who also attend our church, invited us (and three other couples) to have Easter lunch with them. We all have grown kids who live away, and who won't be in town for the holiday, so this makes the day still feel warm and cozy.

Everyone brings a dish or two to add to the meal so it's not an excessive amount of work for the host. Last year one of the other couples in the group offered their home, so this year we offered ours. We'll all go to church, then lunch here afterwards. I'm sure it will be a great afternoon.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I mentioned in a recent Hodgepodge ('cuz that's all I manage to get on the blog lately) that I had some canvases made for a wall in my office that was in need of a bit of zhuzzing. I use the company Canvaspop, which I've been very pleased with. I'm sure I'll change these out periodically, but for now here's my wall of happy-

Wishing you all the blessings of Easter!

  1. I love those custom bookcases!! I love your canvases, too. I imagine you enjoy looking at those sweet babies every single day!

  2. That is not a broken record, it's the best gift from God. True, the year is going by fast and there has been no time to reset ourselves. Glad you enjoy the basketball. So nice of you to offer your home. Have a wonderful Easter celebration with the neighbors. Your wall looks amazing. Have a wonderful day. God Bless.

  3. What a perfectly happy wall that is for you to look at! I'm a fan of the bookcases, too! I said the Border, too. Shaking my head in disbelief so often about that an other things we humans mess up. I love your Easter lunch plan. Happy Easter to you and yours, Christ is Risen!!

  4. Right there with you on our (so-called) borders. Thank you for letting us know who made those wonderful canvases. I'm going to be visiting them soon!

  5. I totally agree with #1! I feel the same! I love how you will spend Easter!

  6. Love your grandchildren focus wall. That is a happy space for sure. Family pics on canvas will be my Christmas request this year. Happy Easter to you and your family/friends. He is Risen!

  7. Your Easter lunch plans sound wonderful! Such a good idea for couples who have faraway kids. It still makes for a special, meaningful day.

And madness ... I'm with you on the borders. There's no making sense of it.

  8. LOVE the wall! I really need to do something like that.

  9. Love the canvas wall. Turned out beautifully. Happy Easter!

  10. Oh, I really like what you all do after Easter. It is hard when your grown children have grown up and not close to home anymore.
Your wall of happy is absolutely Grand!! I love it.

  11. Love your wall of happy and your office, too!

  12. Oh the canned spinach reminded me of my mom. A depression era kid, she ate a lot of canned spinach with vinegar. It was comfort food and even after she was an adult, at times she would crave that taste. Yuck but to each their own.
The Easter lunch with neighbors sounds nice.
I’m right with you on the border. It just doesn’t make any sense.

  13. Great answers, here are mine

What do you love about your life right now?

How much at ease I am with my life despite how hard the struggle is.

March 26th is National Spinach Day...are you a fan? If so, how do you like yours prepared/served?

    Nope never liked spinach.

In this current season would you say you need to spend more time looking inward or that you need to get out of your head? Tell us why.

Nope don’t need to get out of my head, I like living in my head.

Are you following the 'March Madness' madness? (That's US college basketball in case you're out of the loop) What's something that feels like actual madness to you right now?

    No nothing about sport.

How will you celebrate the Easter/Passover holiday this year?

    No don’t have any plans.

Insert your own random thought here.

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.

  14. Your wall looks real nice ! I am angainst borders if the whole world would be one single country we wouldn't need soldiers, weapons and peace would be all over the world. But that will remain a dream !

  15. Those canvases are just perfect! When I think about the hoops we had to jump through to get visas to live in the UK, it makes me so mad to see our current lack of a border. Everyone here in Texas, especially south Texas, is fed up with it.

  16. I love your photo wall, Joyce!! I agree with your #4 thoughts on the border. Well put!! Wishing you and yours a blessed Easter!! Thanks for another fun Hodgepodge!!

  17. So agree with you about the borders - or lack thereof! It's so dangerous. Love your office and your wall of happy, and your Sunday plans sound great!

  18. Hi Joyce, I like your photo wall and bookcases. I had several at my old house. I gave away a lot of books when I moved but kept my favorites. I hated canned spinach but like fresh spinach. Have a great Resurrection Day!

  19. That wall looks great! Your Easter lunch sounds nice too. We'll be having pulled pork, green beans, and mac and cheese, but that's about it.

  20. Oh, I love the canvas prints of the babies...and of course drooling over the bookshelves. I don't follow NCAA basketball (I'm a college football fan). However, I was happy to see that the University of Alabama is still in the running. Roll Tide!

  21. Love your canvases. We have several "collage" canvases around our house.
