A Hodgepodge That's Easy To Love

Hello Hodgepodgers! If you've answered the questions today add your link at the end of my post. We've had a few newbies join our Wednesday party in recent weeks, so if you have a minute hop over to a blog you haven't visited before and say hi. And be sure to leave a comment for your neighbor in the link list. That's how we keep the Hodgepodge rollin' right along.
1. What's the last thing you did that someone else thought was super?

I'm not sure I've done anything lately that could be described as super? Maybe something related to home decorating?

2. The last thing you ate that tasted superb?

Two weekends ago I made an overnight French Toast recipe that my company thought was superb. It's so easy to do and so delicious. You will find the recipe here.

3. Supersensitive, superstitious, superwoman, superambitious, supercilious, supervisor, superficial...pick a super word from the list and tell us how it relates to your life in some way recently or currently.

The list of projects I want to accomplish round here feels superambitious.

4. Do you love easily? If you're comfortable doing so, explain why you think that is.

Yes, and I think it's probably because I've always felt loved. As a child, as a wife and mother, and most of all I'm secure in the knowledge that Jesus loves me. Not saying I haven't encountered people who are hard to love, but I'm an eternal optimist who believes the best about everyone so yeah, I tend to love easily.

5. Valentine's Day lands on a Tuesday this year. Will you mark the day in some way? If you're celebrating with a dinner out somewhere will it be on Tuesday or will you celebrate over the weekend?

As far as Valentine's Day goes, hubs and I usually exchange cards but no gifts. I do send a little something to my girls because that makes me happy. In recent years hubs and I have had the tradition of cooking a new recipe together at home. We eat out a lot, plus restaurants often do a set menu or fixed price and eh.

We've been looking at recipes to try, but haven't settled on one yet. And I'm not sure if we'll cook on Tuesday or over the weekend, but I think it will feel more leisurely and enjoyable to cook on Saturday so that's my plan.

6. What's something you are loving right now?

I might be a teensy bit obsessed with online shops selling smocked children's clothing. This shop in particular. Also this one. And I can't wait to buy one of the bonnets sold here

7 Write a three word (or less) phrase you'd like to see on a Valentine candy heart.

Love Never Fails

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

Raise your hand if you've been enjoying those tiny little conversation hearts for a couple of weeks now.  #sorrynotsorry

  1. I linked to your post, but for some reason the link didn't work. I'm guessing the http was doubled since I copied and pasted the link. I couldn't find a way to fix it. I am so sorry! :)
I love all your answers by the way!

  2. I'm thinking that's the same French Toast recipe I make and you are right, it is superb! And, buying for the Grans is too much fun. Great questions once again!

  3. Oh, great phrase for the candy heart! Wish I had thought of that one! Thanks for hosting and for coming up with these fun and thought-provoking questions.

  4. I haven't had any conversation hearts since I was a teenager.

  5. I always say I don't like those little candy hearts until somebody has some and I eat the bag. Sigh. I've gotten Baby M some super cute smocked outfits on Zulily. There's a lady around here who makes them and my mother tried her hand at it when the girls were little but she swore she'd never do it again. And she hasn't. LOL Have you checked out the Charleston bonnets? :) Love your Valentine's Day tradition. That's a really good way to celebrate. Have a wonderful Wednesday!

  7. I'll have to check out that recipe. Mr. C is the one who makes breakfasts around here and I bet he'd like to try this when we have a houseful of family. Thanks again for the Hodgepodge questions, Joyce.

  11. Do you know that I don't like candy conversation hearts? I'd much rather indulge in some dark chocolate, preferably with almonds. I can only imagine how excited you must be about your grandbaby on the way! I would have an absolute heyday!

  12. Oh my goodness, those smocked clothing sites have some of the most adorable dresses. That's a fun idea, to try a new recipe together on Valentine's Day. A fun Hodgepodge today!

  13. That French Toast recipe is giving me a craving! I used to make one with French Bread but this recipe looks better. How fun to shop for baby clothes, I know you are loving it :)

  14. I love your tradition of trying out a new recipe [together] for Valentine's Day. That's a good one.
Oh, the fun you'll have shopping for baby clothing! Been there, done that :)
I do have some of those conversation hearts (for the grands), but haven't been tempted to eat them, yet. Chocolate is another matter, though.
Thanks again for all you do!

  15. Those conversation hearts have never been a temptation for me. Give me a bag of m&m's though and there's a problem.

  16. I don't have girl grandkids, but I always loved smocking when my girls were little. The bonnets are adorable.

  17. While I like to read the messages on the tiny candy hearts, I don't really care for the taste.

I look forward to the day you learn if you'll be buying pink or blue bonnets!

  18. Thank you for the French Toast link. Here is a company you might want to sign up with. Their sales are amazing and I give the blankets as gifts all the time. https://bebebelladesigns.com/ I like your candy heart! No candy hearts here but they are fun to eat.....

  19. I like that idea of cooking something together for Valentine's Day. Does Valentine's Day need an apostrophe. Always wonder. Anyhoo. I've been doing a lot of looking at precious little things online and in stores, too. I almost put the same three words on my heart. I have a bloggy friend who does her own smocking and has made the sweetest dresses for her one and only daughter who is 7ish now. Ivoryspring. Thanks for coming up with the questions!

  21. Cooking together is a great idea. Might need to check what the live in lovebirds have got planned first though! Those baby shops have too much cute stuff. But it's fun looking :) Thanks for another great Hodgepodge Joyce.

  23. I thought all of your answers were great, Joyce. That french toast really sounds amazing! Have tried the cinnamon roll casserole? I don't have a link to share but you can google it, I'm sure. Thank you for hosting Hodgepodge and have a great rest of the week!

  24. I cannot imagine shopping for little girl things. We've always had boys in the family, but now a granddaughter is coming. I am always online looking for 'stuff' for the grandson, so she will be no different - except for pink. The boys are coming on Sunday for dinner. Baked ham.
