Mother May I Hodgepodge

Welcome to this week's edition of The Wednesday Hodgepodge. If you've answered today's questions add your link at the end of my post, then leave a comment for the blogger before you. Comments make the blog world spin...here we go-

From this Side of the Pond

1. What's something you 'may' do this month?

I may jump in the lake.

2. Last time you literally or figuratively shouted mayday!?

I wouldn't say mayday exactly, but I did have a reaction to a medication last week that was cause for concern. It's all mostly sorted now so no worries.

3. Let the chips fall where they may, come what maymaybe, Cape Maymayflies, devil may care, you may now kiss the bride, much to our dismaymayhem, mayonnaise...choose a 'may' word or phrase from the list and tell us how it relates to your life in some way right now.

Did you know mayflies don't always emerge as adults in the actual month of May? They hatch throughout the spring and summer and they don't live very long. Mayflies are a little bit like dragonflies, except dragonflies are prettier.

Mayflies sometimes hang out under our dock. They're not pesky like actual flies, and since they don't bother anyone we don't worry about them too much. Do I look worried?

Can you tell summer is nearly here and I've got lake time on my mind?

4. If someone were serving you breakfast in bed this weekend, what would you like to see on the menu?

This question was asked in one of the very first Random Dozen posts published back in 2010. The Random Dozen was the precursor to the Wednesday Hodgepodge and was hosted by another blogger. She gave it up (12 questions every week it's no wonder!!) and I adapted her format into something a little more manageable.

All that to say my answer is pretty much the same today as it was way back when...homemade french toast, fruit, coffee, and maybe a little turquoise box on the tray to make it extra.

5. Tell me one true thing you believe about motherhood.

Motherhood is sanctifying

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I know I should say something sweet and perhaps sentimental about Mother's Day, but instead I'm going to tell you we finally got our television debacle mostly corrected and that is also worth celebrating. Whoohoo!

  1. Joyce,

Thanks for hosting another week of hodgepodge. I failed to keep up last month and even need to retrace my footsteps to finish up with yours in just a sec. I say by the time the end of May gets here you'll certainly be ready to jump into the lake. Mmm, your breakfast in bed menu sounds delightful. I haven't had french toast in a coon's age! Here's hoping your Sunday expectations are met fully. Have a blessed week and a wonderful Mother's Day, my friend! xx

  2. Happy early Mother's Day! It is wayyyyyy too early in the morning. Took me half a second to figure out what the turquoise box was for. I need more coffee! Thanks for hosting and have a great rest of the week! :-)

  3. It was fascinating to watch a youtube on Mayflies. How nice to be on your float but tethered? so you can't float too far away. Amen to Motherhood being part of our sanctification process! Woohoo on your TV woes getting solved mostly. Happy Mother's Day!

  4. Your breakfast in bed menu sounds so good. Made me realize I forgot to add coffee to my imaginary breakfast tray!

And jumping in the lake will be fun. I so envy you that lake!

  5. You look most comfortable and like you are really enjoying yourself. Our neighbors got their kids a float much like that and they float out in the pond on it. No this gal! We've had 2 alligators in the pond since we've lived here, I'll stay on the sideline. Happy Mother's Day!

  9. Happy Mother's Day!

Homemade French toast does sound good. I don't eat much breakfast but like it when we have breakfast for supper. I'll have to remember this for the next time.

  10. I just wondered if a mother of 8 children thinks that motherhood is sanctifying. Probably not for everybody. Sacrifying would probably be a better word. It all depends not all women want to be mothers.
I wished I could lay in your boat !!!

  12. I do have to worry about mayflies as I am allergic enough to their bites that I swell up. I can still remember when I was in grade school and got bit on my eyelid and my whole eye was swollen shut for a few days.

  13. Glad for the good news on the almost resolution of your TV situation. Would love to be floating about in the middle of a lake, pond or even garden sized bath tub. We are thinking about summer vacay plans and looking at a few days away at the beach. Hope to make it work.

  14. I had a medication that gave me urgency but I couldn't go. It was terrible. Didn't go for 10 hours! I've never heard of May flies. What an awesome way to spend the day. Hooray on the TV situation being worked out. Happy Mother's Day!
