Coasting Into The Hodgepodge

Welcome to this week's Wednesday Hodgepodge. If you've answered today's questions, add your link at the end of my post, then leave a comment for your neighbor there. Here we go-

From this Side of the Pond

1. Monday, August 16th was National Roller Coaster Day. Are you a fan? Did you celebrate? Last place/time you rode a roller coaster?

Not a fan and did not celebrate. Honestly I'm okay with never riding another roller coaster ever. It's just not something I enjoy, and it's been a long time since I was coerced into riding one. I think it was Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Disneyland Paris in 2007.

2. Tell us about a time in your life where it felt like you were figuratively riding a roller coaster.

Maybe planning a wedding during a pandemic? The rules seemed to change on a daily basis in terms of what was and was not permitted or even wise, and the guest list was in a constant state of flux up until the day of. But it all worked out in the end and was a beautiful day and event.

3. Favorite treat to eat at an amusement park or state fair?

cotton candy

4. Are you easy to get along with? Elaborate.

I think so. I suppose hubs might disagree ha!, but overall I am easy to get along with. I'm pretty low maintenance and dislike conflict so am generally happy to go along with things that are minor in terms of life's big picture.

5. Something on your calendar to see-do-read-accomplish or just enjoy before month's end?

I'm looking forward to seeing my daughter's new house. They are mid-move and we are helping in whatever way we can. Excited to see them settled and making a home in a nearby state.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

If you are feeling overwhelmed with all that is going on in the wider world right now, are struggling with how to pray, you might find this site helpful-5 Prayers to lift up for Afghanistan.

"This is my Father's world:
O let me n'er forget

That though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the Ruler yet."

  3. Thank you for another great Hodgepodge, Joyce. And thank you for reminding us to pray for Afghanistan. My heart is so heavy over what has/is happening there. On a more fun note... Thunder Mountain at Disney was my last roller coaster ride, too! xo

  4. LOL I also said Thunder Mountain was about my limit. I know they are "fun" but I simply don't enjoy them as much anymore.

  5. We need to remind ourselves for sure about who is in control when evil seems to be on the rise. Praying for Afghanistan and for Haiti are on many minds right now. What a mess. How fun to anticipate your daughter's home just a hop skip and a jump away from you for a change! I'll wave when we drive past there on September 28th. Now I'm going back to your link for those prayers.

  7. I'm just so thrilled that Shannon and family are about to get settled here in the US and not so far away from family. Indeed, it is our Father's World!

  8. Would you consider some kids rides with the someday like at Disney World? Yes, definitely planning the wedding during the pandemic had to be a roller coaster ride. I do enjoy cotton candy too! Thank you for the link, I am going to go and check it out.

  10. Thank you for the prayer link. I have shared it with my fellow prayer warriors. How exciting for your daughter and hubs to be moving into a new home. She looked simply radiant in the recent pics you posted, but of course both your girls have a beautiful countenance that obviously comes from their mother.

  12. Ending this blog post with the words to This Is My Father's World is wonderful. How much we all need to be reminded of our Lord, and so especially at times like this! My church had a bomb scare this morning, which brought the 11am service to a decisive end. I am pretty sure it was all talk and no injuries or damage.
