Waiting On The Hodgepodge

Welcome to this week's edition of TheWednesday Hodgepodge. If you've answered today's questions add your link at the end of my post, then leave a comment for the blogger before you. Or all the bloggers before you if you've got the time. Here we go-

From this Side of the Pond
1. Something you've waited for recently?

Our new granddaughter to arrive. She's not in a hurry.

2. What's something you loved to do as a child?

Ride my bike without holding on, run through the sprinkler on a hot summer day, jump rope, read...it's a long list...

3. Something you learned from a grandparent?

From my maternal grandmother: the importance and power of prayer in daily living, how to make iced tea by the glass, and to know there is great beauty found in a gentle quiet spirit.

4. The most visited cities in the world last year (according to this site) were-Bangkok, Paris, London, Dubai, and Singapore. Have you been to any of the cities mentioned? Which would you most like to see? How do you feel about international travel in general these days?

Of the cities listed I've been to Paris, London, and Dubai. I don't feel the need to make another trip to Dubai, but would happily revisit London and Paris. Singapore would be a place I'd like to see, but not sure I'll have the opportunity. So much world, so little time.

How do I feel about international travel these days? Well, travel in general in recent years has its challenges and the actual getting from one place to another (by air) requires an extra measure of patience. Still it's worth seeing the world I think.

5. February is the perfect month to ______________________.

Cozy up beside the fire with a stack of books.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Been singing this one all week long lol...

  2. Maybe your granddaughter will arrive soon! Too warm to cozy by our fire now. The weather here has been in the 60s, but I am not complaining! Loved the song and seeing Andy made it special.

  3. Yes, I too think a lot about fires this time of year. Even Florida is cold!

  4. Thanks for the song. I have not heard that one but there are probably a lot of songs I haven't heard. Made me tear up. How fun to be waiting on another granddaughter! God bless her...

  5. I have never heard that song...beautiful and I love Andy! I can just imagine him making those comments for sure! Hope your "woman" comes soon!

  6. Can't wait to meet her. That is a great list from your childhood. That was a lovely lesson to learn from a grandparent. Enjoy your books by the fireplace. That's a nice video you shared. Enjoy your day.

  7. Alabama's warming up, but I still keep the (electric) fireplace going for atmosphere. After their visit (back in the day) I remember my mother saying Singapore was the cleanest city she had ever seen. That's when she first learned about something called a "Singapore Sling" (lol).
Crossing my fingers for little lady's arrival!

  8. Hi Joyce, thanks for visiting my blog. I added some pictures of my grandparents. Bike riding is a fun memory and you made me think of when we would attach playing cards with clothes pins to make it sound like a motor bike. Kids today are missing out on those simple pleasures because of electronic toys. I hope you granddaughter gets her soon!

  9. I always say I hate the actual act of traveling but I love to see and explore new places. I do find that flying just seems like it keeps getting worse and worse but unless I just want to stay inside the continental U.S I don't really have much of a choice.

  10. Hope your granddaughter arrives safe and well soon - I'm sure her Mummy is getting impatient too. Yep reading books by the fireside sounds a perfect way to spend time.

  11. I spend so much time waiting for people to do stuff for me and as a child my Nana taught me to take care of my skin so I don't look old and wrinkled before my time. Sadly I have not visited any of those places but would have loved to be able to do so.

  15. Oh my, I finished that video with tears and couldn't help think of my sweet daddy who didn't mind waiting on his precious woman of 50 years either. She followed him 11 years later and couldn't wait to join him.
