Why would anyone chop down a cherry tree?
I am in love with this one that is in front of my house.
When I open my front door this is what I see.
It makes my heart happy.
A. E. Housman, a well known British scholar and poet wrote-

Lovliest of trees, the cherry now
Is hung with bloom along the bough,
And stands about the woodland ride
Wearing white for Eastertide.
Now, of my threescore years and ten,
Twenty will not come again,

It's lovely! I am so sad that our cherry tree died last year. Our yard without it just isn't the same. Your spring is ahead us. Only the daffodils are starting to bloom.

ReplyDeleteWe're just beginning to see buds on our most beautiful trees- our dogwoods. Unfortunately, with that comes pollen season. With pollen counts in the quadruple digits. So we're making the most of our outdoor time before the pollen chases us indoors.
What a beautiful tree! We had one similar in our yard years ago before we moved. I miss the gorgeous display of blossoms. You are blessed to have this art piece right outside your door. Thanks for sharing it, it helps me to know that spring isn't too far away.

While in Cannes, we will take side trips to Provence, Monte Carlo, and Nice. My only trip to France previously was a stop in Strasbourg while we were on a Rhine River cruise.
