Before I get started with the Christmas pics I feel it is only appropriate to first take a moment and discuss the Christmas weather. Weather ruled the day and besides... y'all know how I love to blog about the weather, right?

Question for you...why do they call the Smoky Mountains the Smoky Mountains?

Beats me.
They're beautiful aren't they?

the mountains too...

And covered in snow?

More beautiful.
Yes the mountains are still there.

I believe this is what is known as a whiteout.

Besides being beautiful covered in snow they are also just a wee bit of trouble.

More than a wee bit if we're being honest...

Not our car by the way but still, it could have been.
We were in a Jeep and hubs likes to say things like, "Let's see what the Jeep can do."
Let's not.

Obviously we did not do a lot of sitting on the deck but a few of the crazies did dash barefoot thru the snow one night so they could sit in the hot tub.

On Monday the clouds lifted and the snow f-i-n-a-l-l-y stopped falling and the sun shone bright and beautiful...

Snow and sun on the Smokies with family all around...

are all that you need to make 'another tender Tennessee Christmas' complete.

  1. I was in East TN back a few weeks ago, and while we didn't have any snow, it was cold!!! We were up in the mountains in this cabin in the middle of NOWHERE, and I seriously had some cell phone and internet withdrawals. I now know without a doubt that I will always be a city girl!

Your pics are beautiful, and it looks like you and your family had a wonderful time. :o)

  2. Looks beautiful and the hot tub looks inviting!

  3. Gorgeous pictures.....and yes...another beautiful Tennessee Christmas!

  4. That is sooo pretty!

That's EXACTLY how (and the only way) I like snow... in a cabin with no place to be except right where you are. Nice.

And that's exactly what my Hubby would say too!

  5. Beautiful!
"Let's see what a jeep can do."
    Good luck with that!

  6. Beautiful photos! Christmas in the mountains--now that sounds like fun! Not sure I could brave the snow for the hottub though!!!
I'd been wondering how things were where you live--with all the snow in your area right after Christmas. I guess you missed out on that, huh?

  7. Beautiful. Our hubs sound so much alike in personality. ;)

  8. Wow it is gorgeous there! Amazing pictures! I'm glad you made it out safely to come home and shovel your way into your own home!

  9. Beautiful! Reminds me of the song! It looks like you guys had a wonderful time!
    until next time... nel

  10. Wow so pretty! Looks like you had fun. So glad you are all safe.

  11. I'm a big fan of the Smoky Mountains and it looks like you got some of all the best they have to offer.

  12. Just beautiful!

All the snow that came through the norther coast line caused out flight to New York to be canceled. We had a small vacation trip planed while the daughter is with her aunt, just an impromptu trip for a few days, a little husband and wife time!

Our flight canceled and we were not able to rebook, the airlines could have re-booked us for December 31 but the hubs has to go back to work and the hotel points were not good over the new year holiday, major bummer!

Any way your snow look wonderful!

  13. Hey--Charlie and I just got back today--I wish I would have known earlier--could have met up somewhere. We only stayed a couple of days, but was nice.

  14. What a perfect trip you had. It is absolutely beautiful. Love all the pictures you took, they take your breath away!

  15. What gorgeous pictures and just spells Christmas to me. Only in the great state of Tenn! :o) Blessings!

  16. Now that's a weather blogpost I can get into! And isn't it funny--my husband says the same kind of thing about vehicles! : )

  17. What absolutely gorgeous pictures ... especially the ones of the snow! Sounds like you all had a wonderful time there in the Smokies. Wishing you a blessed New Year.
