Routine? What's that?

It feels like its time to get back into some sort of routine doesn't it? I mean a routine other than the one we've been on which has consisted of eating and napping followed by more eating and more napping. Hubs returned to work today but daughter2 is still home so we have another week to squeeze in some fun. She has probably had her fill of parental fun but such is life when mom and dad move house and city and country while you're in college...'going home' now means spending a month in a town where mom and dad are all you've got. I'm sure she is not sick of me. Pretty sure anyway.

We didn't do much more this weekend than eat (still!), watch football, and hang out. Hubs has some truly exhausting travel coming up in the next couple of months and he really needed some down time at the end of this very busy year. Saturday morning we did take the pup for a nice long walk in 'the glen' near our house. Where was daughter2 you may ask? I'll give you three guesses...

Apparently hubs is not the only one around here needing down time.

The temperature was in the 40's this weekend so really nice. Dixie loves to chow down on the snow, chase birds, run ahead of us, and sniff out the contents of the woodlands. It felt great to move and get some fresh air.

Can you tell she thought so too?

I spent the afternoon making enchiladas from scratch and they were so good. Putting them together takes a half a day but it's worth it and they're hubs favorite meal...his new year was off to a good start. He took the outdoor lights down since the weather was so nice but all of my indoor decorations are still in place and I'm just not ready to face the taking down bit yet. I know some people approach that task with glee but to me its depressing. I love it when its done but I hate the doing. Does it ever go back in the bins the same way it came out?

Here's a bit of happy news...the new season of The Bachelor starts tonite and I have a daughter at home to watch with me. Oh and we'll insist hubs will watch it with us too. I'm pretty sure reading this will make his day.

Enjoy this first week in a brand new year...Joyce

  1. I'm back to routine today, but I sure enjoyed a little anti-routine for a while. Enjoy this week with your daughter.

  3. Good morning! I'm off today for one last day and tomorrow starts my routine back. Maybe it won't be so bad if I can stay focused on what is important. My Hubster went back to work today too.

Your enchiladas sound good. My daughter, Katy, has made them for us. She loves finding new recipes and cooking for us (and her boyfriend). They are always good!

Have a good last week with the daughter before she heads back to school. Katy and I have today ourselves and she goes back tomorrow (senior in high school).

  4. My return to the routine was sidelined this morning at 3am by the arrival of the stomach flu. Both boys are home today and missing the first day back at school.

    Happy New Year!

  7. I'm so glad to be back to my routine. This week is going to be very busy at work, but I feel like my routine keeps me from being a complete and total slug!

  8. Sounds like the perfect weekend. Dixie's tongue is cracking me up. :) Our Gracie had trouble seeing the decorations come down this year. Mama was ready though. Funny how it multiplies when packing it all away.

  9. I was ready for my routine to return, and then got this silly cold! Oh well, tomorrow I have two meetings to attend, Wednesday I need to help a friend breed her dogs, and Thursday is another meeting. Gaaaaah! I was so enjoying the Christmas break!

  10. Yum! Enchiladas! It is freezing here-like ten degrees. I sure wouldn't mind 40s!

  11. We would get along just fine Joyce. Eating and napping just happen to be my two top skills and I also believe that enchiladas made from scratch are worth the effort.

  12. Yummy! I would like the enchilada recipe too!
I enjoyed the Christmas break, but was ready to get back into a routine.
My decorations NEVER get back in the storage boxes like they came out.
    Why is that? :)
Speaking of football....did you see my OU Sooners in the Fiesta Bowl?
Happy New Year Joyce. Blessings to you and your sweet family!

  13. Sounds like it was perfect and how awesome to have daughter2 still home. I am so glad to hear that your decorations are still up. Mine are too, I love them so much so I always wait until the middle of the month. I actually have two friends coming over Thursday to see my tree and decorations. I may start over the weekend, maybe not!
