Remember Remember the Hodgepodge November

It's November. How did that happen? Welcome to the first Hodgepodge of the month. I love this season of gratitude and look forward to incorporating it into the questions as we roll towards December.

Also, who gets my title? Anyone playing along today from the UK?

If you've answered this week's questions add your link at the end of my post. We're all grateful for comments, so be sure to at least visit the blogger who links before you. Here we go-

1. Besides Thanksgiving, something you're looking forward to on your November calendar?

We're going to see the Vols play in Neyland Stadium this month, something we haven't done in years, so that will be fun. As long as they win. ahem. We're also visiting college friends in Atlanta later this month, and that's always too much fun. Finally, we're meeting Daughter2's boyfriend's family at the end of the month, and I'm looking forward to spending time with them in November.

2. If I gave you a thank you card right now who would you send it to and why?

We were treated to a really nice dinner Monday night, so I'll send a thank you card to our hostess. She works in our financial planners office in NJ, and happens to have family in our little SC town. Small world people. My favorite thing. We'd never met her in person, but have spoken on the phone several times as she handles some of our paperwork. Dinner on a Monday night? Why not?

3. Of the breads listed, which one's your favorite...bagel, cinnamon, sourdough, garlic, banana, biscuit, pita, Naan, or plain old fashioned white bread?

Oh dear. I don't eat plain old fashioned white bread so that's an easy one to take off the list. Probably my favorite would be Naan because I love Indian food, and you can't have Indian food without Naan. I would not turn down a piece of homemade cinnamon bread either.

4. What's something you have in abundance? Is that a good thing?

Rain. I'm not going to complain much, but holy cow we've had a lot of rain. Buckets and buckets. Cats and dogs. Round up the animals two by two. I think you get the idea. Do you know what goes together like oil and water? Home building and downpours.

5. November 5th is National Love Your Red Hair Day. Are there any redheads in your family? Who's your favorite redhead?

I married into a family of redheads so the easy answer is yes. My favorite? Hubs, of course.

Also, fun fact...red hair + gray hair = blond hair.
No fair!

6. The travel website Busbud recently calculated the most Instagrammed spot in every state. Go here to see what made the list where you live. Are you happy with your state's #1? If not what do you think should be the most photographed spot in your state?  Have you snapped a photo there? If you live outside the USA answer as it relates to your state city or province.

I live in SC and the most Instagrammed spot in the state is Myrtle Beach. I haven't been to Myrtle Beach in decades, but it's a popular tourist destination so I guess that answer makes sense. I've snapped many a picture in Myrtle Beach, but nothing recent.

What do I think should be the most Instagrammed spot in SC?

Pretty Place Chapel. A location that truly lives up to its name.

7. I'm going to try to have something related to gratitude in this spot each week during the month of November. Here's this week's question-

What's something you've learned about yourself this year that you're grateful for?

Hmmm...that we can do this retirement thing?

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Did you watch the World Series? I didn't because the teams didn't interest me all that much, but I did love this. Billy Joel is a Mets fan and he sang the National Anthem in game 3. This season the Mets have been playing Piano Man in the 8th inning to rev up the crowd. Everyone sings along, and in game three they sang it with the original 'Piano Man' in the crowd. Awesome! Especially when he joined in-

  1. Have fun in K-town and Atlanta-safe travels. When hub and I built our first house (1987) it seemed liked it rained constantly! I hope I can figure out my retirement plan.

  2. I can't believe that I didn't remember remember the fifth of November! Your hubs sure was a cutie. Does he live up to the stereotypical redhead personality? And Pretty Place Chapel is someplace I'd love to visit. Wow! Thanks for the Hodgepodge, Joyce.

  3. I love that video! Although, it kind of looks like Billy forgot some of the words. Have fun meeting the possible future outlaws. Enjoy your week. Thanks for doing such a great job every week coming up with thoughtful questions.

  4. Yes - rain and rain and rain! It's raining now as I type. I saw the Billy Joel moment and it was very special. So was Tim throwing out the first ball...wearing his dad Tug's World Series ring. That was special too!

  5. You gotta love a cute redhead like that! Retirement didn't come easy for me, but I did catch on and I love it. Meeting the boyfriend's family! Do you think another wedding may be in your near future? Hopefully, not until you get your house finished.

We've also had a lot of rain. Rats, I failed to answer what I think should be the most photographed in Texas. Will have to update later today. Right now it's time to prepare for BSF Day.

  7. Well, I'm in your states most photographed spot right now and I'm sure I'll take many a picture. Fun questions this week. Joyce. Thanks

  8. I loved today's Hodgepodge, my answers to the questions didn't 'tax' my weary brain :)
Love the photo of your "hubs". Redheads do gray well :)
I'm so sorry about all of the rain! That's so frustrating when you're trying to build. Been there, done that.

  9. I answered these on my new blog! It hasn't rained here much thankfully, it did rain for 3 days last week though so I think that's when we got ours out of the way! Hope it stops for you soon. :)

  10. The chapel picture is the PERFECT place for a wedding or baby dedication. Can you imagine those pictures? Gorgeous.

And your hubs? He's so cute in that picture.

  11. Sounds like you have lots of fun looming on your horizon for November. Us two as we are going to my daughters for Thanksgiving and so is my youngest sons family. Six whole days of hanging with them all...can't wait! Your hubby was a little doll as a little boy....preview of some grandsons maybe? lol I can't imagine buckets of rain but I am grateful it's at least cooled down finally here. Good old Disneyland made the top of the list here not surprising I guess. Have a good week!

  12. The Pretty Place Chapel photo looks like something from a movie. Soon beautiful! The Billy Joel video was cheery and fun! Sorry about all the rain you're getting -- we're expecting 1/2 to 1 inch of snow later today (our first of the season). I'm sure you won't miss that in SC!

  13. Oh, wow, that picture of the chapel is beautiful! Would love to see that someday. Thanks for this week's questions! They were fun :)

  14. Oh wow... I want to go to that chapel! NOW! Hope you get some relief from the rain soon!

  15. I have seen the photo of the Pretty Place and I wanted to immediately get in the car and go there. I am not a very religious person but things like this where you can see God's beauty in a rare way gives me goosebumps. I am in Kentucky so I certainly have this on my bucket list of places to go.

I didn't know that Red Hair + Grey Hair = blonde hair. Woohooo. I am a natural redhead so I have blonde hair to look forward to. Thanks for that tip.

  16. Your November sounds like it will be fun. I had to Google the Vols, didn't have a clue who they were. I still enjoy sending out thank you notes. I've never had Naan, will have to try it someday. Such a cute photo of your husband. That chapel is gorgeous!

  17. Here in Texas we go without rain for weeks and weeks, then it comes it such great quantities that it doesn't have time to soak in and causes floods! Yikes! Here in the Hill Country, we have had just the right amount this fall so far. More rain in the forecast.

  18. Oh, my goodness, you are so right, rain and house building just do NOT go together. We certainly encountered our issues with it and the bad thing is, there is not one thing you can do about it. Ugh! My parents took me to Myrtle Beach for my 16th birthday. We lived in Smithfield, Virginia at that time. Sounds like you have a fun Nov. lined out.

  19. That Pretty Place Chapel picture never gets old!
    Enjoy your travels!

  20. Hi,
That is the sweetest photo of your husband. :-))
Yes, I did watch the World Series, and I loved the 8th. :-))
Have a great rest of the week!

  21. I didn't really expect Myrtle Beach to be the most instagrammed spot in SC ... I really expected something from Charleston. But I agree with you ... you certainly couldn't go wrong with Pretty Place.

  22. I would so love to get married at Pretty Place Chapel. It looks like God's true alter! I agree about the rain. Texas has been hit pretty hard and we are expecting another round tomorrow. I think we are on a perpetual flash flood watch! Didn't watch the game but rooted for the home team KC Royals!

  23. We've had our share of rain here, as well, Joyce. I'm over it at this point. I will definitely have to check out that beautiful chapel as my MIL lives in SC. What a breathtaking view! I love Charleston and I think that would be a good choice for the #1 Instagrammed place, too. Have fun at Neyland Stadium! Haven't been back since I was in grad school at UT, but the experience is so worth it!

  24. I hope the rain isn't holding things up too much. 5th November is hard to forget over here in the UK with all the fireworks that go off this time of year! We don't seem to get people collecting money for the guy these days though.

  25. Yes, I loved the Billy Joel sing a long! and I was happy Kansas won, because they were the team the beat our Blue Jays, and knowing they went the whole way makes it hurt a little less. Thanks for hosting! I love Wednesdays.

  26. What a darling picture of your hubby! Oh my, the Pretty Place Chapel is gorgeous! That is really neat about Billy Joel singing along with the world series crowd. I only watched the last game and I really don't know why I got caught up in it...haha...but it was a great game!

  27. Cute photo of hubs, and I agree with you on that Pretty Place Chapel. So beautiful!! Thanks for another fun Hodgepodge, Joyce!

  28. I'm from Kansas so the World Series was a winner! But we didn't watch much of it to be honest. Love the picture of your hubby. Mine was a redhead too! And that Pretty Place Chapel is someplace I would love to visit. Right along with Myrtle Beach!

  29. I'm not really a baseball fan so I had not seen that. I did find myself singing along while I watched it though. Ha.

  30. I'm late to the party, but I did do HP this morning. Questions were so good (as usual) but not too challenging for my tired brain. I put Naan bread, too, but it was a toss-up between that and cinnamon bread, or more specifically cinnamon ROLLS because--hello, GLAZE! I hope the rain lets up for your sake there. We are getting a little but need it. Thanks for sharing.

  31. What a BEAUTIFUL spot for a chapel! Imagine having a wedding there...We have a similar spot, although the chapel isn't as constructed, but more of a meeting area with benches and 3 large wooden crosses. It overlooks the 2nd largest lake in Maine and the mountains of New Hampshire. Such a great spot for sunsets.

  32. The build seems to be very cumbersome. Too many decisions in too short a time frame and too subject to the wims of Mother Nature! Thanks for stopping by my blog page. All the best with the build!

  33. This non sports fan watched every single World Series game! My hubby has been a Royals fan since he was a boy and my son and daughter-in-law live in Kansas City so it was an exciting time for all of us! Billy Joel did a great job with the National Anthem.
Also, the rain can stop any time. I'm ready for blue skies!

  34. Of all the beautiful places in SC, I couldn't believe they chose Myrtle Beach. SC is so much more than a tourist trap. Baseball does not interest me in the least because, it's not football. LOL
