Accomplishing The Hodgepodge

Somehow we've landed in the last week of May. Does anyone else feel like it was just Christmas? June is one of my favorites so no complaints here. The Hodgepodge is rolling right along too...answer on your own blog then hop back there tomorrow to add your link to the party. See you there!
1. What makes you feel accomplished? Explain.

It's the little things. Hosting a dinner party. Completing a tough hike. Keeping a plant alive for an extended period of time. Successfully preparing a complicated recipe. Building a house. Writing.

2. If you had your own talk show, who would your first three guests be? Tell us why.

Princess Catherine because I adore her, Tim Tebow because I so admire how he has used his fame for good, and the President because he's the President.

3. Do you have a great burger recipe? What's in it? What do you like on a hamburger and where is your favorite spot to order one out?

I don't really have a recipe, just good ground beef, lots of salt and pepper, and one of our favorite steak seasonings, either Sauers or Chicago. I need lettuce, tomato, mayo on my burger with a side of dill pickle. I don't do the fast food thing so much, but there are a couple of local spots here that make a good burger. I do like Red Robin's burgers too.

4. What's the biggest anxiety producing thing you do on a regular basis?

It's a toss up between flying and docking the boat. Now technically I'm doing neither, but!...I am flying that plane from my seat, and while hubs is normally doing the actual boat docking, the first mate role makes me sweat.

5. This is the last Hodgepodge of May. Tell us about your summer plans.

Well, first and foremost I'M HAVING A GRANDBABY! Other than that it's all about the lake. Lots of company coming and going, so lots of boating, corn hole, and porch sitting. I'm also going to a little reunion with friends from the church I grew up in, and I'm really looking forward to that. A fun, busy summer.

Is there any other kind on this side of the pond?

6. Insert your own random thought here.

A neighborhood friend invited me to lunch last Friday, along with two other women. Three of us lived in the UK at roughly the same time, but didn't know one another there. We went to a gorgeous spot out in the country, a small farm with an interesting menu and a spectacular view.

The weather was picture perfect, and it was a completely lovely afternoon.

  1. I think that your summer grand-baby plans more than top any summer plans I might have. How exciting! The most I can hope for are grand-birdies or grand-squirrellies. haha You are so very blessed, as am I, but you will get to cuddle yours. If I try that, I might get my eyes poked out. :)

    Have a blessed day!

  2. Good questions to close out this month of May. Yes, a BIG summer for you! You will have more blog fodder than you ever dreamed once this little Grandson makes his entrance and a Grandmother is born as well. I'll miss you next week as we'll be making memories in Disney.

  5. I can't wait to read all the feels you're going to feel when your little one arrives! We've gotten one of those little baby pools for Baby M and I cannot believe she's about to be a one-year-old. This last year FLEW by and I haven't found a way to slow it down. Don't you love it when you meet folks with the same or similar connections? Have a wonderful day!

  6. Yes, flying makes me anxious too. Especially taking off. I always repeat the Lord's Prayer as we ascend. My daughter plans her announcement this Saturday, which is her birthday. I think it's quite appropriate since I birthed her on that day! Don't you think?? Can't wait!

  7. Sounds like a busy summer ahead for you! And in reading your answer to #1, I guess it's a matter of terms. I think of that as a sense of accomplishment. I wonder if that's one of those regional things, like I would say, 'the car needs to be washed' and in other parts of the country they say 'The car needs washed.' I love that kind of thing. Anyway, thanks for another Hodgepodge as you count down the weeks to Grand baby's arrival.

  8. I've never flown, but, if I ever do, it will definitely produce some major anxiety! I used to get nervous when we'd dock our boat, too. Old memories, but good ones.
This will be a summer to remember, for you, with the arrival of that first grandchild! Savor every moment of it :)
P.S. I need your help! I'm not able to see the linky today. I guess my luck finally ran out :(
    Thanks,
    Kathy (Reflections)

  11. You fly on a regular basis? Small engine plane? Is your hubby a pilot? You've aroused my curiosity!

  12. I am sure you've got most of us beat with that arrival of your very first grand baby. Just doesn't get much better.

  13. Loved your answers ... and of course, I must also thank you for the questions! I love your new and improved format and am in awe of how you come up with such interesting questions each week.

  14. Love your answer for number one! I like the guests on your show. Docking a boat would definitely give me anxiety and of course flying always gives me a lot of anxiety. Your summer is going to be awesome!

  15. Flying would be one of my top anxieties which is hard to understand because it used to be so exciting!! Now it's a big hassle. And docking the boat! I only managed to accomplish backing the boat trailer down the ramp one time and it was a doozy, so that was something that produced anxiety. Your summer sounds wonderful and the baby will be the absolute BEST!!! So happy for you.

  20. Ohh, I forgot the dill pickle! Oh, and fries or chips. ha. It's a good thing we don't fly together. :)

  21. I'm sure that Grandbaby will be everything you dreamed of - and then some! Funny I commented about being anxious using public transport but flying itself doesn't make me anxious. I just worry that I'll need the loo when the seatbelts sign is on! lol

  22. Sounds like you will have a marvelous summer! Enjoy the gr-baby!

  23. There is nothing more exciting than the anticipation of a grand baby! Your life will never be the same. I really like the 5 question format, Joyce...great idea! Has it gotten to be a little less stressful for YOU since you made the change? Thanks for hosting and making this fun for all of us :)

  24. Congratulations on the grandbaby! You're going to love being a grandma. It's the best! Tim Tebow would be an interesting interview, good choice.

  25. Building a house sounds like a pretty big thing! I would like to be able to keep plants alive too, but the only one I managed longterm was rhubarb.

  26. Somehow, I completely forgot to leave a comment yesterday. So sorry about that. Chalk it up to teacher brain. I had to chuckle at your reference to keeping a plant alive and feeling accomplished. I echo your sentiments. Ha! Have a lovely day!

  27. Grandbabies are an incredible blessing from God. Being a grandparent is an amazingly awesome gig. You're both going to love it. All the best with the gestation and the delivery. Prayers to that end coming your way.

  28. CONGRATULATIONS! Babies are the best but I hear GRANDBABIES are off the chart amazing! So very exciting!!!

  29. That does look like nice scenery for a luncheon. I'd like to have dinner with Tim Tebow too. I love that he has a strong Christian faith and that he has the "Night to Shine" campaign that gives prom to special needs adults every year.
