Did you come here today for a weather report?
Let's move on...if you've answered this week's questions add your link at the end of my post. Be sure to leave a comment for the person before you because everybody can use a little springtime cheer. Here we go-
1. On this first official day of spring tell us something (besides the weather) you're looking forward to in this season of the year.
Does more daylight fall under the category of weather? If not that's my answer. I'm also really looking forward to having my mom, my mother-in-law, my daughter's mother-in-law, one of my sisters, my niece, BOTH of my daughters AND my grandson here on Mother's Day.
2. When it comes to spring cleaning would you rather wash windows or wash baseboards? Clean out closets or clean out the garage? Dust ceiling fans or dust bookcases? Wipe down the patio furniture outside or wipe down the light fixtures inside? Any of these tasks recently completed?
Windows or baseboards-ugh! I'd rather have a cup of tea and watch hubs take care of those things. Hubs is washing windows as I speak and I think he kind of enjoys it, plus he's particular so carry on hubs! I guess that leaves me with the baseboards.
Closets over the garage any day. And I'll dust the bookcases and leave the fans for hubs. I think a ladder is required for some of our fans and I don't do ladders. Well I do, but he'd rather I not.
I'll wipe down the lights and let hubs handle the outdoor furniture. I wipe down lights and switches in bedrooms and bathrooms on a weekly basis anyway.
3. Your favorite thing to make/eat that calls for cream cheese? Sour cream? Whipped cream?
I don't eat a lot of any of these products. Let's go with cheesecake for the cream cheese and I make a yummy sour cream pound cake which is pretty much the only thing I use sour cream for, so pound cake it is.
Now whipped cream is another story. Give me a bowl of whipped cream and a spoon and I'm good. I don't ever actually do that, but I easily could. Angel food cake topped with strawberries and whipped cream is one of my favorite desserts so that's my answer.
The fact that I picked all desserts is not lost on me.
4. I read here a list of commonly mispronounced words. What is a word that gives you trouble when it comes to pronunciation?
According to that list I've been pronouncing regime incorrectly. Hmmm. The word acai always gives me pause. I have to think the pronunciation in my head before I say it aloud. Again, not a word I'm saying often but when I do I have to really stop and think before I speak.
5. What's a song you love with the word 'rain' in the title or lyrics?
I wanted to be different and original but I love CCR and especially their song Have You Ever Seen The Rain so that's my pick.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
Hubs and I went to see the movie I Can Only Imagine on Monday afternoon. It's the story behind the song of the same name (by Mercy Me) and we both really enjoyed it. I'm just going to go ahead and say it, but sometimes these films with a Christian theme aren't very good. The intent is good but they're not well written or well-acted. This one I thought was well done on both counts and is a wonderful story of forgiveness and redemption. Plus the song is a favorite of mine so I loved hearing how it came to be. Has anyone else seen it? Did you like it?
Loved your answers today, Joyce. (And the questions were fun too.) What a blessed Mother's Day you are going to have!
ReplyDeleteAnother foot of snow? Oh, my!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this week's light questions. They required little thought on my part :)
I'm sure you ARE looking forward to Mother's Day. I'm excited for you!
As for the answers to # 3...all of mine were desserts, too. I'm hopeless.
Have a great day (and hang onto your hat),
Kathy (Reflections)
Those poor people suffering yet another Nor'easter! Hurry springtime! I've not seen the movie, but my favorite movie of redemption/forgiveness is Mission. An old movie, but so good.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you will have a full house for Mother's Day. How wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the movie review, Joyce. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about Christian themed movies but there are a slight few that have pleasantly surprised me. Mother's Day is going to be perfect at your house this year! Having everyone under your roof is something we empty nesters cherish when we can get it.
ReplyDeleteEveryone I know seems to have seen it already and loved the movie.. My Hubs just will not go to movies anymore so I need to find someone to go with or wait for Netflix or some other venue!
ReplyDeleteI am so ready for Spring! I expect more snow tonight, not too much, but enough to be messy! Fun questions!
ReplyDeleteI think your daylight is a great answer. I never thought of that. OMG, that is going to be one great Mother's Day!! My brain just wasn't working yesterday. Cheesecake is my favorite dessert. I don't have it very often but it never crossed my mind for the cream cheese. Love your thoughts on the whipped cream. Haven't seen the movie yet but I plan to. I'm glad you liked it.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the questions, I do enjoy participating. I haven't seen the movie, but I'm most intrigued.
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way with cool whip - just throw it in a bowl & hand over a spoon
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on daylight. The shorter days didn't used to bother me, but since the weather has changed over the years and we have more overcast days than sunny in any given year, the shorter days get to me. I have to take massive amounts of vitamin D (as do a very large percentage of folks around here) due to lack of sunlight.
ReplyDeleteI've heard a lot of good comments about that movie and yes, I concur with you that many Christian movies lack something. Glad to hear this one is well done. Woohoo for your Mother's Day celebration.
ReplyDeleteI went and saw the movie on Monday after work and I commented on it in my Random. I thought it was very good and am so glad I went to see it.
ReplyDeleteI forgot about daylight! Yes so looking forward to that - and reading about the lovely Mother's Day you are all going to have.
ReplyDeleteSome friends from church saw the movie, but I haven't yet. I'm looking forward to seeing it, but I'll probably wait until I can rent it. Longer days will be SO great. Thanks again for hosting!

Laughter and Consistency
I liked the song "I Can Only Imagine" when it first came out. However, I played it or heard it at so many funerals, I grew to hate it. Because of that, I most likely won't see the movie.
ReplyDeleteI've heard that movie is good too. Wow! What a fun Mother's day you have planned!!
ReplyDeleteI also agree with you on Christian themed movies (and most Hallmark movies) but several folks who have seen this movie say it is very well done. Joyce, I enjoyed your HP answers and am very excited for you and your coming Mother's Day! WOW!! Please share lots of photos with us! (I know it's not until May.)
ReplyDeleteI have not seen I Can Only Imagine but thanks for the recommendation. We'll add it to our "must see list." Like you, I do like the song.
ReplyDeleteYour Mother's Day plans sound wonderful.
According go Webster, you can pronounce transient as tran ze ent. So I guess I am a-okay. Never heard of the song.
ReplyDeleteWe saw the movie, "I Can Only Imagine" on Tuesday and I could not agree with your comments more. It was a very powerful movie. I posted on FB a link to a video of a song that Dennis Quaid wrote for his mother. I didn't realize he is such a strong believer in Jesus Christ. It was good to see.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteI have heard such good things about I Can Only Imagine. I hope to see it.
My wife just mentioned that she needed to clean our ceiling fan in our bedroom because the weather was going to heat up this week. I've been slowly cleaning closets and the garage, but it's an ongoing job that's been taking me years to do. I should just apply myself and get it done until they clutter up again.
ReplyDeleteHappy Springtime!
