Ideally It's The Hodgepodge

Welcome to this week's edition of the Wednesday Hodgepodge. If you've answered today's questions, add your link at the end of my post, then leave a comment for the blogger before you. That's what good neighbors do! Here we go-

From this Side of the Pond

1. Realist, idealist, optimist, pessimist...which one are you? Elaborate.

Definitely not a pessimist. I'm going to say I'm a realistic optimist. I read an explanation of this and it said that realistic optimists believe they will succeed, but acknowledge that it may not be easy and will likely take work to make it happen. Realistic optimism means having a positive attitude while honestly acknowledging the challenges you will encounter along life's highway.

2. What's something currently on your wish list?

Literally or figuratively speaking? Literally-chairs for my keeping room.

Figuratively-sanity and civility to be restored to our nation, revival in America, and a cure for cancer.

3. Three things on this week's shopping list?

Outdoor trash bags, avocados, half and half...I actually went to the store today and wish I'd known outdoor trash bags were on the list. Bother.

4. According to Trip Advisor here's a list of the top ten things to do in the US this summer-

Chicago Architecture River CruiseSkip the Line Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island Tour, New York In A Day guided sightseeing tour, Charleston's Old South Historic Horse and Carriage tourGrand Canyon helicopter tourFull day iconic sights of LA, Beverly Hills, Beaches and more, D.C. at Dusk guided night tour, Beneath the Streets Underground History tour (Seattle)New Orleans Swamp and Bayou Boat tour, Gangsters and Ghosts tour in Chicago...read more about each excursion in the link here.

Of the ten attractions listed which do you find most appealing? Have you already experienced anything on this list?

I've done quite a few of the excursions listed including the Architecture River Cruise, the Horse and Carriage Tour, and D.C. at dusk. In addition I lived outside of NYC for a while so could probably give a tour there, and I've been to the Statue of Liberty although not in a long long while. You will never get me on a helicopter over the Grand Canyon and I have no desire right now to visit Seattle or California which leaves just a couple of options. I think the New Orleans Swamp boat tour might be fun as long as it's not a million degrees outside. Or I'd for sure take another carriage ride around Charleston because I enjoy that city a lot.

5. Besides home and work where do you spend the most time?

Hmmm...maybe the supermarket? I don't actually spend a lot of time there but it's a regularly visited spot so I'm going with it.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

How about happy Wednesday? I got nothin'. It has been such a busy couple of days here and I'm getting this in just under the wire. Happy Wednesday it is!

  1. Would love to take a carriage ride around Charleston. Civility restored...YES!!!

  2. Yes, to another ride around Charleston. I too love that city. As for the helicopter ride, I was fearful, but the sights made it worth while. And a big yes to revival among God's people in America and the peace of Jerusalem.

  3. I am surprised you wouldn't do the helicopter tour over The Grand Canyon because you seem so adventurous. I can't imagine the heat and humidity in New Orleans so that one is out for me. I didn't think figuratively for #2 but those are great answers! Have a great rest of the week :)

  4. Joyce,

Happy Wednesday to you, too! I'm pulled in a zillion directions lately. Come June I cutting back to my summer blogging routine. I really need a break. The A2Z Challenge always drains me but I love pushing myself. I like the rigger to meet a deadline.

I haven't been inside a store of any kind except for a few times since the pandemic started last March. We continue to get groceries delivered and probably will long after things have return to normal. With DH working from home, the mask mandate, and people being people (stupid) then I have to desire to mingle with lots of people. Before all of this hit, folks crowded, brushed by, and even climbed over top of you to get something off the shelf I was trying to get something. I don't think that changed with a pandemic. People think, "I'm wearing a mask so I'm good" and continue with their inconsideration of not respecting other people's personal space. You might say, I have real issues about this. lol We won't even go into the other mind-blowing dumb things people constantly do putting themselves at risk at everyone in their family/friend circle. Although I did not use the term, but I think I'm also a realistic optimist. Everything you do, you have to know what your limits are and you have to be ready to do the work to get it done while confidant I will succeed at reaching goal(s). Oh, I am on the same page as you with your figurative wish. That surely be grand to see sanity return to Americans and hearts filled with light instead of darkness. I pray for these changes to take place so this country will be a better for my granddaughter and her generation. Thanks for hosting the mid-week fun and have a good day! :)

  6. Oh, Charleston! {sigh} That city, and Hilton Head were our "go to" spots for weekend getaways when we lived in SC. I'm with you about the helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon. No, thank you! :)

  7. I was at 3 stores yesterday and 2 items weren't on my list that should have been...bother for sure. A realistic optimist...I like that. It's still just shocking how some ideas that are getting shoved down our throats aren't shocking to everybody. We need a wake-up call for sure. Yikes! Happy Wednesday indeed.

  8. I am so with you on your figurative wish list. I pray for our country every day. I know there will never be perfect peace until Jesus returns, but would like to see some signs of unity in our country again. I did a helicopter tour over Hawaii, and set in the backseat so I wouldn’t have to look quite so much. A helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon might be beautiful, but A little scary. A friend of mine just a couple of weeks ago did that very thing, with her husband flying the helicopter. What trust!

  9. Fun questions Joyce and I enjoyed your answers. Realistic Optimist is a good answer.

  10. Happy Wednesday, indeed! Even tho' I 'cheated' and copied a meme, I love your personal definition of a realistic optimist. I think most of us said we spend our free time at the grocery. (*grin*) I'm just grateful to be out and about once more!

  11. Yes, I agree, our nation needs help and America needs help. A cure for cancer would be wonderful. I'm actually looking forward to shopping again in the future. Thankfully we have had Instacart. A happy Wednesday would be nice! Take care Joyce.

  12. I didn't even think about the grocery store. But really, I spend more time on hikes than in the grocery store.
I'd love the helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon. Love helicopters. I know, weird, but I do.

  14. I loved your answers. Some of ours were similar.

  15. Sounds like our answers were similar...I'd be a hard no on the helicopter ride. As pretty as is sounds, I don't like heights. yikes. I hate when I go to the store and forget something on the list or realize I forgot to put something on the list.
