Random luck

You know the drill...it's Wednesday which means time for the weekly Random Dozen. If you'd like to play along just answer the questions on your own blog and post your answers here for all the world to see...

1. Do you prefer even or odd numbers? Any particular reason?

I can safely say I have never given this one moments thought.

2. On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being "not at all" and 10 being Carly Simon-worthy, how vain are you?

Mark Twain once said, “There are no grades of vanity. Only grades in ability of concealing it.”

Well after reading that I think I’ll go with a nice middle of the road 5. I can’t say I don’t care but I can say I don’t obsess.

3. Among these Irish stereotypes, with which do you identify most closely? Talkative, Proud, Inquisitive, Love to party, Hot-tempered?

I suppose some people might possibly describe me as talkative. Course if you follow my blog you didn’t need me to tell you that now did you?

4. How lucky do you consider yourself?

Do we mean fortunate? If that’s the case then I feel like one of the luckiest.

If we’re talking lottery tickets, contests, games of chance etc. then eh…not so lucky.

5. What is the subject of your favorite post that you've written?

I have lots of favorites…hmm…maybe I should revisit question #2. Most of my favorites have to do with my kids and/or England. Of my recent entries I will say this post. I blogged about our first day of school in the UK and a commenter suggested my daughter (who was heavily featured in my blog post) write about the same day from her perspective. And she did that here. I loved the connection. I loved the memory.

6. Describe March weather where you live in three words.

Cold, gray and snowy ….that sounds lovely and inviting doesn’t it?

7. How apt are you at detecting blarney when you hear it? (Smooth talk, flattery)

My radar for blarney is high.

8. How "green" are you, environmentally speaking?

We recycle and try not to be wasteful.

9. What is your favorite song this week?

I find this question quite stressful. It’s always so hard to pick a favorite song…right now I am loving Needtobreathe-These Hard Times. My daughters got me listening to them. The lead singer went to their university and they've seen them many times. I'm a fan now too...I love this band.

10. You are walking along and see a coin on the ground. What denomination does it have to be before you will stop to pick it up?

A penny. I told ya I’m not wasteful.

11. Complete the sentence: "Every time I look outside my window ...."

I stand in awe of God’s handiwork....

12. What was the #1 song on the day you were born? See this site to find out.

The Twist? Chubby Checker? Seriously? That cannot be right. Well, of course technically I was just entering this world when The Twist was at its heyday. Whew…that sounds better. No offense to those of you who were dancing to it on my birthday…its just that for some reason I always think I’m much younger than I really am. Sometimes it is shocking to see my actual age.

  4. Those pics are great! I love the beauty of God's creation too. When I look outside my window any time but the muddy, bleak time between full on winter and the budding of spring it just makes me depressed. Give me flowers or snow or leaves changing! Anyways.

Love, love, love Needtobreathe! But you already knew that : )

We had some similiar answers this week.

  6. I'm with you on the age thing. Lately it seems like EVERYONE'S younger than me and I don't like it. :)

What a wonderful idea for posts--it's easy to see why it would be a treasured memory.

Isn't it funny, I'm not fond of the word lucky either. I like fortunate much better as well. I used to use the word blessed, but what about the people who have a child with a life threatening illness or who's spouse has died, does that make them cursed? I don't think God works that way. I really like fortunate.

  11. Enjoyed your answers as always. I love your pictures, oh my gosh, Talk about picture taking! lol I would go nuts. I remember "The Twist". And I definitely know what you mean about age. Was talking to my daughter awhile back and she mentioned some old people and I said how old were they? lolol They were my age, and she said no mom you are not that old... lolol. I don't feel that old most days, and sure don't act it. Oh well, I guess it beats the alternative. But then again...Heaven wouldn't be so bad... :)

    until next time... nel

AND I loved the twist! :-) It was really popular when I was just getting old enough to care about dancing and so on! "Boogity, boogity, boogity, boogity shoop...Come on, baby, let's do the twist"!
Gosh, it still makes me want to get up and move! But on second thought....nah. :-) LOL
Loved reading your answers! Hope your week is going well and that your snow is going away.

  18. Isn't God amazing? To think that we are so blessed to experience all of the seasons....the animals {some more than others :)} and the wonderful sunrises and sunsets.
I always feel like He's doing it just for me!

I love all of the pictures and always love learning more about you.

It's sunny here again today! Yesterday was absolutely beautiful.
My hubby is trying to get his garden started and the weather has made it impossible. He's way behind schedule. He's happy he'll get to go out there today and work on it.
