Day 4-Embrace
This is one of my favorite pictures-
That's my grandmother, one of the kindest, gentlest souls the world has ever known. She loved me as only a grandmother can. Standing there beside her is my youngest daughter, blue eyes shining, delicate arms draped round her great-grandmother as she snuggles in close.
Unposed. Innocent.
Taken some seventeen years ago, but never losing it's power to make me feel so much. A ribbon of love stretching across the generations. The click of a shutter whisking me back to another place in time.
Back to little girls in holiday dresses, and the warm embrace of family.
How lovely.
ReplyDelete"I love ya a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck" is exactly what my father-in-law tells the kids. Great memory spectacularly captured in a photo. I love taking those unposed photos. There seems to be so much more in them.
ReplyDeleteWow ... what memories stored in that photo.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful. Such a great picture and memories. I sing that to my grandkids now.
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely memory.
ReplyDeleteMy mom would always say "Love you a bushel and a peck" and we would answer with "and a bottle-full to the neck". I now say that to my grandchildren. They answer with "and a squeeze around the neck." Beautiful picture.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful memory and photo to hold dear.
ReplyDeleteWhat a treasured photo, I love it!
