Chicken Fried Hodgepodge

Welcome to another edition of the Wednesday Hodgepodge. If you've answered today's questions add your link at the end of my post, then leave a comment for the blogger before you. Here we go-

From this Side of the Pond
1. July 6th is National Fried Chicken Day...are you a fan? Do you make your own or have a favorite place to buy from? Do you own chickens? If not chicken what's your favorite fried food?

I very rarely fry anything, and I try not to eat a lot of fried foods. Fried isn't my favorite and I'd rather have grilled chicken if given a choice. That being said I do love homemade fried chicken and here in the southland you can find good fried chicken at a lot of the local restaurants. I do not own chickens but daughter1's in-laws do and they keep us in a steady supply of fresh eggs.

My favorite fried food would be shrimp.

2.  What's something you're too chicken to try?

Probably a lot of things. Skydiving (am I chicken or am I smart?) and returning the boat to the lift exactly completely precisely right (am I chicken or is hubs too chicken to watch me try?) are two things that came instantly to mind.

3. When did you last find yourself running around like a 'chicken with its head cut off'?

I like to plan so it's not often I'm running around last minute. Maybe the weekend of daughter2's baby shower when there were many moving parts, lots of logistics, and a lot to haul hither and yon.

4. Something you've done recently that makes you think 'I'm no spring chicken'

Tried to read something without my glasses on.

5. 'Winner winner chicken dinner'...tell us about something good that's happened in your life lately.

This darling little boy arriving almost three weeks ago...he is so precious-

6. Insert your own random thought here.

We had a nice July 4th weekend which always culminates in our neighbors spectacular fireworks display over the water. She lives opposite us on the cove so we have prime viewing from our dock. Boats come from all over the lake and anchor out to watch the show....

God bless America!

  1. Oh yes, to your little darling. He sure doesn't look only 3 weeks old. Still waiting to hear if any birthing progress was made during the night of our newest great. How beautiful the fireworks must have been reflecting in the water. Where we live, there was only an occasional boom, but nothing to see.

  2. your new grandbaby is adorable!!!! Congrats!

  3. I know a lot of friends who own chickens and they are canning (I guess you call it this) their eggs...last up to a year. Congratulations on your new grandson. Love his hair and he is absolutely PERFECT!

  4. Precious boy-child, Joyce! Those lips ... I can't even! I, too, am a planner and a compulsive list-maker. Sure, Chaos happens, but I do my best not to succumb. LOL.

  5. Sounds like you all had a nice fourth. Cute baby! As always, I appreciate you hosting. This bloghop keeps me sane.

  6. You did get the best summer treat anyone could with that new little guy. He's so cute and so cuddly. What a treat to have a fireworks show across the lake from you. Can you believe the year is over half gone. Happy July to you!

  7. I'm with you on the grilled chicken. True, reading glasses do help. Your precious new grandson is so adorable. The fireworks are so pretty. We also enjoy watching from our yard. We have a view of fireworks around for 25 miles from different towns. They are not all close up but definitely beautiful to watch. You have a great day Joyce.

  8. Hello Joyce,
OH THAT SWEET BABY BOY! I love that photo. :-)
I also like how you answered your "am I too chicken to try" My husband also has a few things that he would rather do, than see me try. Hee Hee!

  9. Love all the pictures of your fun with your grandboys. They are getting so big!

I'm beginning to notice changes in my eyes from when I look down at something. I've heard to expect this after 40. Eye dr. told me I'd know when it was time to do something about it.

  10. Your new grandson is so adorable Joyce. Thanks for another set of really good questions.

  11. That little guy is precious, indeed! Thank you for another fun Hodgepodge. I like so many fried foods... not good for me but oh how I love fried chicken... Love & hugs!!
