Adulting In The Hodgepodge

Welcome to this week's edition of The Wednesday Hodgepodge. If you've answered today's questions add your link at the end of my post, then leave a comment for the blogger before you. Here we go-

From this Side of the Pond
1. Growing up, at what age did you think you'd become an adult? At what age did you actually become an adult?

I think I felt very grown up when I entered my senior year of highschool. For sure by my second year in uni when I was doing a lot of practicums and was off campus in various classrooms and assorted clinical settings.

I was always a rule follower, a responsible teenager looking towards the future.

When did I actually become an adult? I think that's a process and it began as I stated above. Once I was married it felt more official. I was 3 months shy of 25 when hubs and I tied the knot.

2.  Your favorite item you've bought this year?

Probably the canvases I purchased for my office.

I still smile every time I walk past them.

3. May 28th is National Hamburger Day...are you a fan? If so, how do you like yours? When was the last time you had a hamburger? Besides the backyard grill, what's your favorite place to go for a burger?

A hamburger on the grill is one of my favorite foods. I like mine with lettuce, tomato, pickle, and a little mayo. The last time I had a burger was Mother's Day when hubs grilled us smashburgers. They were so good! We don't go out for burgers very often but there's a local sports bar/dive here that makes a good one. I like Five Guys burgers too and always order kid sized because their regular burger is ridiculous.

4.  How have your priorities changed over time?

I think so much less about what others think of me and so much more about putting my time and energy towards what matters for eternity.

5. What's one thing on your June calendar you're really looking forward to?

Grandson #3 turns 2 years old on our anniversary which also happens to land on Father's Day and since all the grandparents will be in town his 4 month old baby sister will have her dedication at church that day too. Go big or go home, right?!

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Wrapped up our week with the Ohio grands with a visit to the Cincinnati Zoo. The landscaping, plantings, blooms, and gardens here are absolutely beautiful.

The 'men's' highlight was the Reptile House.

Nobody's surprised are they?

  2. Those canvases turned out really nice and I can see how they make you smile. Your trip to the zoo looks fun. I have never been to the Cincy Zoo despite not living too far from it (I have been to other zoos just not the one that is closest to us, lol).

  5. I can see why that photo wall makes you smile! Perfect words to accompany the grouping. Well...I did ramble on and on with the adulting question. It seems I do that a lot. Hooray for the special time you had with your Ohio grands. The zoo is a great finale. Happy end of May to you!

  7. Yes, I think marriage makes adulthood feel official. Definitely those canvases. When I started collecting them it was pure joy. Your hamburger sounds delicious. I do happen to like Thousand Island on mine. Love your answer for #4. June sounds awesome. Enjoy each moment! What a great way to end your time in Ohio.

  8. Although I considered myself truly an adult when I moved into my first apartment at the age of 20 and a few months later married, the rubber really hit the road when I became a mother for the first time (age 23). Having a little bitty totally dependent on me was a heavier responsibility than I had anticipated.

  11. I liked your answers and your photos, here a my answers

Growing up I never thought about being an adult, it just happened.
I haven’t bought much this year.
I like hamburgers but mostly only homemade burgers.
I think it is normal for our priorities to change over time as we change over time.
Must be my youngest daughter’s 35 birthday.
Be beautiful inside our hearts, with the lasting charm of a gentle and quiet spirit which is so precious to God.

  12. I'm so glad I participated this week and I LOVE your canvases. I have a bunch in one of our hallways and, like you, I smile every time I walk by. They go from ceiling to floor. Sounds like a big celebration coming up on Father's Day.

  15. That day with all the stuff sounds super busy but fun! I got married at 26 and I thought that would make me feel adult but I still felt like I was transitioning into that role. Guess we are always changing!
