Here are the questions to this week's Wednesday Hodgepodge. Answer on your own blog, then hop back here on Wednesday (January 22) to share answers with the rest of the world wide webbers. See you there!
One of my favorites would for sure be the winter of 2005 when we took a family trip to Seefeld Austria. It was one of those trips where everything felt nearly perfect, from the location, the weather, the activity level, the accommodations, and the food. I wrote a little bit about it in this post-Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Ski Jumpers
2. Tell us about the last time or a recent time you were caught up in red tape. Does it send your frustration level off the charts or is it something you've come to expect when dealing with any sort of bureaucracy?
Hmmm...just got my tax organizer and anything tax related feels like red tape to me. I breeze through parts of it but there are a few questions that always send my frustration level soaring. I expect it which is why I haven't tackled it yet.
3. Do you eat/like fish? Do you cook fish at home? What's your favorite fish dish? Ever been ice fishing?
I love fish, all kinds and fixed many different ways. I don't know if I have a favorite but if sea bass is on the menu I will likely order that. If we're including shellfish in this category then the answer is easy-Maryland blue crabs picked and eaten on a picnic table beside the water.
Hubs doesn't like the smell of fish cooking in the house, but we do seafood on the grill fairly often, particularly salmon, shrimp, and scallops. I have never been ice fishing.
4. Did you watch any of the US President's Inauguration coverage on Monday, Jan 20? On a scale of 1-10 (with 1 being not at all and 10 being very very) how interested are you in politics in general? Do you follow/keep up with/ get involved with local politics?
I did watch a lot of the coverage. History being made in real time. I'm interested in politics but they also make my stomach churn so I have to limit my consumption. I will say I'm an 8.
I keep up with local politics and while I'm not involved in them I do vote in every election, no matter how small.
5. What's the coziest thing you own and what makes it so?
Hubs knows what I'm going to say and he's probably laughing, but also it is not his favorite thing in my wardrobe.
My bathrobe. So so cozy. I put it on and instantly feel better.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
Daughter2 arrived with her two littles today (Tuesday) joining her sister who's been here since last Thursday with her three littles, and it's not crazy at all...

Austria looks amazing, it's on my bucket list although I will pass on the skiing I don't trust my balance! A house full of littles sounds like fun, I hope you all have a lovely time together.
ReplyDeleteAustria would be amazing! I bet your house is full and happy in the best way!
ReplyDeleteLooks like lots of great memories are being made at grandma and grandpa's! And if the littlest don't remember anything precisely about this particular day, nonetheless, the feeling of what it was like at your place will always be with them and they will remember that. Beautiful pictures from Austria! I was in southern Austria, Graz, for six weeks when I was in college. Skiing wasn't on the itinerary but we saw some beautiful sites! Enjoy the time with your family and have a great day!
ReplyDeleteAw, that sounds like a full house for sure! I bet everyone is so excited to see each other in person again. That trip sounds wonderful! Though I think I'd prefer to visit in spring/summer since I am not really a winter person.
ReplyDeleteOh Austria must have been a dream! Thank you for hosting Joyce :)
ReplyDeleteA full, fun house!!! I love me some Maryland Crabs!! I miss the newspapers spread on the picnic table, the laughter, and the struggle we sometimes faced trying to open the crabs.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to have the family together!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! Your trip to Austria sounds amazing!
ReplyDeleteI never thought of saying my bathrobe! I love mine!
Have fun with all the kids. hehehe
Ahh...cousin heaven! What fun for them to be together. I can imagine how good your bed feels when you tuck yourself in at the end of the day, but first that last hour or two after all the littles are tucked in and the 4 adults can just debrief and catch up. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThe girls look so cute. Sounds like a wonderful trip. I imagine doing taxes is hard. I've never done them. You really do like fish. I was an 8 too! Bathrobe is a good answer. I need a new one because I wear mine a lot. What a beautiful family time you are having. I can't think of anything better. Enjoy each moment!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to have them all together again.
ReplyDeleteHi Joyce, oh how sweet, a HOUSE FULL!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI shared some memory photos as well today, of us ice fishing.
Happy Winter Days,
Carla
P.S. I think I am an 8 too regarding politics. I do vote in every election no matter how big or small. For the past few years I have done a better job researching our school board members.
ReplyDeleteIt must be so much fun having your children and grandchildren at your house!
ReplyDeleteI'm not looking forward to tax season either, though it is a lot more simple than it was when we still had our farm.
Austria still has a perm position on my bucket list, but I'm not sure that will ever happen. (A girl can dream!) All 7 of your babes are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI ranked myself as an 8 also for political interest. That picture from Austria is perfection! Thanks for the fun linkup!
ReplyDeleteI like the way you phrased it, "Nobody in this crowd has a small personality." I hear you!
ReplyDeleteI had to smile at that bottom photo of all those precious grands! Today I had to help out in the children’s program and was assigned the 2 year group. Oy Vey! Adorable through and through but a handful. I came home aching and sleepy. Man they really wiped me out!
ReplyDeleteNope don’t do fish - have shellfish allergy. I do love fresh sea bass the way my dad made it. And a good fish and chips.
Have fun and enjoy those grand babies of yours - beautiful life!
Joyce, that last picture says it all. Heaven. Blessings!!
ReplyDeleteYour photo of Seefeld looks so beautiful - I'd love to visit Austria, but definitely not to ski! It's time for me to get moving on taxes too, and I feel the same way, with parts of it being really easy and other aspects that frustrate me or make me anxious. Or both. City taxes especially. Have a great time with the family!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post! I remember reading that both of your daughters would be together but I had forgotten about it. How fun to have them both under your roof with all the grandchildren. Exhausting, yes, but such precious time!
ReplyDeleteAs a teenager I was many times in Austria but in sûmmer ! Your house seems to be full with all your grandchildren !
ReplyDeleteAustria is so beautiful. We weren't there in the winter and it was still gorgeous. I imagine there is lots of fun noise in your house right now.
ReplyDeleteI liked your answers, never thought of visiting Austria but ya know I am pretty damn far away from there so not a quick trip
ReplyDeleteThe day of the Presidential inauguration signaled the end of my participation in FaceBook and my return to the world of blogging. I am so glad you have this space. The blogiverse is a great refuge for those of us who want a break from the politics and accompanying hate. I look forward to following you!
