P.S.

Thanks for all the sweet comments on my previous post. I feel like I must add that I truly was not having myself a grand ole pity party. Here's the thing...I like to put my thoughts and feelings into words sometimes and a blog is a good place to do that. Believe me when I say I never lose sight of the many blessings I've been given and I certainly don't want to sound ungrateful.

I guess what I was trying to say is that this too is a season of life to be lived. Some bloggers write about how tiring their infants and young children are, the tediousness and exhaustion of those days that feel like they will never end. Others write about their tweens and teens and dealing with back talk and sloppy bedrooms and demanding adolescents. And I write about this season...a suddenly empty nest combined with a transatlantic move and some raging hormones all of which occasionally combine to form an emotional cyclone. I wasn't complaining...just observing. Sometimes intent is hard to pin point in the blogosphere.

Anyway, it's Friday evening and you know what that means...dinner out. House rules say I never cook on Friday. Hubs likes it that way so we're heading out shortly to welcome the weekend. Hope yours is grand!

  1. That's one thing I enjoy about Blogging, whatever our situation, whether we are "bubbling" with happiness, or "boiling" with despair (and we all do both, we can blog about it and know that someone somewhere will relate. Enjoy your dinner out!. . .I don't cook at all on the weekend! Love that arrangement!!

  2. I didn't think you were complaining! I thought back to when we lived in Ga. and HATED it. We were in that town for 11 years, and, when husband was transferred to SC, I cried and didn't want to go. We had kids by then, and were getting involved in little guys' sports and PTA and everything else that goes along with it. I had even made some friends outside of work! But, then after we moved, we jumped right in the same activities plus church activities. I think it's easier to get involved if you've got small kids. I can't imagine moving to a new place when the kids are grown.
Hope y'all had a wonderful dinner!

  3. I did not take it as complaining. I know how you feel. It is quite an adjustment living in Europe for many years and then coming back to live in the US. Love & blessings from NC!

  4. I never cook on Friday either. We usually go out with one or two other couples. Tonight we had Chinese. Yum! Now I'm home waiting for son, DIL and grandbaby to arrive. They're about 45 minutes out.

  7. Well, now I need to go back and see your last post before I hit the hay.

Empty nest I can't relate to quite yet, (Sissy being up north at camp for 2 weeks count? I didn't think so!) but raging hormones...I with ya on that one!

  8. I missed the original post, so I went back... I thought you were merely observing, as you said. I understand... sometimes, life's changes need to be documented. I honestly didn't realize your move was such a short time ago. Seems as though you have handled the changes with poise and grace. (((hugs)))

  9. I find it nice to find posts about empty nests. I like learning about all stages - especially the one bearing down on me in the next heart beat.

And I think I'm going to go dig up my backyard and make it into an English garden. That will work on the Great Plains, right?

I too missed the original post and had to go back. I don't think it sounded like a pity party, but more like a reflection of the change your life is going through Life is all about change and how you choose to embrace it. It think your doing a great job embracing change!

  12. Wandered over from the Lumberjack's Wife. I can feel your pain of relocating, and being glad with the relocation in some aspects and immeasurably saddened in other ways.

We moved back to OK from TX (nothing like moving across the pond) and I have been saddened that it has not met my expectations of "coming home."

Anyhoo, I enjoyed the visit and will definitely wander back over!

Oh, and it wasn't a pity party...I have enough of those to recognize them right off! :)
