Sunshine and Summerspring time

Its hot.

I'm not really complaining because I happen to like warm and sunny although I'm pretty sure the temperatures here might be considered more than 'warm'.

Know what else I like?

Air conditioning.

We didn't have air conditioning in my childhood home until I was in about the 4th grade. Somehow I survived but I wonder if I complained? Hmmm....anyway, if you read here you know how I felt about the winter that just wouldn't quit so I don't suppose I'm allowed to complain about summer weather in summer.

Except technically its still spring.
Ahem.

Spring skipped us this year.
Oh well, that's the thing about the seasons...they always come around again. And since it feels like summer outside today I thought I'd link up with Thursday Thirteen and my list of thirteen things I'm looking forward to once summer becomes 'official'~

Visiting daughter2, my sister, brother in law, and niece in South Carolina

Seeing U2 in concert
Wonder what it would take for Bono to pull me up on stage to sing with him?
I know all the words.

Seeing Kenny Chesney in concert
I think Kenny only pulls the under 25s up on stage at his shows but I definitely know all the words to his songs plus we went to the same university.
Its possible I'm just a teensy bit older than he is but age is all in the mind, right?

Wrong.
Sadly, once you hit about 45 that's not at all true.
Age is also in the body, but I digress...back to my list...

Catching up with old friends at a wedding in July
In Houston
Do you think it will be hot?

A reunion of summer camp staff on Maryland's Eastern shore

A reunion with sorority sisters in the mountains of NC

Ice cold watermelon

Sitting around the fire pit

A weekend on my sister's boat

My mom, brother, and sister in law here for a weekend in July

Daughter1 and the boyfriend here for a weekend sometime

Jersey corn and tomatoes

Sunny skies, warm weather and my freshly polished toes in the sand somewhere

So how about you...what are you looking forward to this summer?

  2. What a great list! And a good way for someone who doesn't like summer (me) to keep a positive attitude about it!

  3. Hey, it would certainly be possible to meet at that MD camp which is 40 minutes from my house. We like to take advantage of their Free Friday swims. If it sounds like something you want to try, let me know. But I certainly understand how those reunion weekend times are prescious and jsm-packed, so I wouldn't be offended if you couldn't squeeze in a tete-a-tete. ;)

  6. Where you going in NC? Boone? Love that place! And yes it's hot--and I am complaining! It's been around 95 every day for the past 2 weeks and I don't even want to think about the humidity. It's going to be a long summer...

  7. Ah yes, I love your list. U2 rocks, but I don't know all the words. Wish I did. My hubby, on the other hand, does. :) I really, really need my toenails painted but even more so, my heals need to be pumiced. (double grin here) And ice cold watermelon? Soooo good. I have picked 3 beautifully ripe watermelons out of 3 so far. Woo-hoo!

  8. Always fun having something to look forward to and this list reminded me of several things we have "coming down the pike." Going to Kansas next week, our New England cruise in July and on and on. Can't wait! I always enjoy stopping by.

  10. It does sound like you have a lovely summer coming up! I'm so with you on the air conditioning. It got REALLY hot here in Northern Illinois this week, and our A/C wasn't working, and it was miserable. It's actually very cool today, and I'm not complaining at all! :)

Hope you'll check out my post:

  11. Just had to pop back over and reply to your comment. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Anglophile myself--went to a British school in Beirut, Lebanon when I was a child, and long to visit England, Ireland and Scotland!

  13. We got Summer weather here for 2 days. The temps were in the mid-high 90's. We have AC in the windows but they are not installed yet. I don't sweet ( which can cause other problems) and after the winter we had I don't care-- it's beautiful! Back to the 70's now. love your list, you have a lot coming up.

  14. It sounds like a fun and busy summer! Spring sort of skipped us, too. It's been in the 90's for well over a month now--some days even in the 100's.

The "heat is on" here with the official wedding count down...two weeks from tomorrow. Lots of things are going on around here.

  20. Hello there! Everytime I visit here I'm struck by how well your blog is put together- it's lovely.
I have a question that is puzzling me- the stats on my blog show hundreds of views coming from your blog- current views- for the last several weeks. I don't see my blog referenced here so can't imagine how folks are jumping from yours to mine in the numbers I'm seeing.. any ideas? Or do you think my stats are just bonkers?
