Yes, we're all friends.
Politicians could take a lesson from us Hodgepodgers. We don't all agree, but we do keep it friendly. Here are my answers-
1. So, do you like beer?
eh...not really
I'm more of a champagne kind of girl.
2. What's your least favorite repetitive task?
Emptying the dishwasher.
There's only two of us here most of the time so why is it always full?
3. When was the last time you rode in a bus? Where was it headed?
I think it was Shanghai in March. I rode the Big Bus around that enormous city all by my big girl self. Hubs walked me to the bus stop in case translation was needed. No he does not speak Mandarin but his pantomime is better than mine.
I look confused, don't I? No doubt I was, which is why I highly recommend the Big Bus tours when you're in a foreign city. They're a great way to get the lay of the land.
Jing'an Temple as seen from the Big Bus, Shanghai
In case you missed it here's the link to my China-Taipei-Hong Kong series. It took up the entire month of April on my blog and is a must read-ha!
4. What song from your childhood or from your own children's childhood could make a parent's nerves stand on end?
The first thing that popped into my head was Barney..."I love you, you love me, we're a happy family..."
Sweet sentiment, but yowza, what an earworm!
Is Barney still around? Do littles still love the big purple dinosaur?
5. The US Presidential election cycle is drawing to a close (can I get an AMEN??), and the third and final debate was held last night....what was the last thing you 'debated about'?
Monday night...should I sit and watch the rest of the debate or just grab some Tums and my ipad and hide out on the couch in the sunroom?
6. Can a person make too much money? How much is too much?
No.
Can I person spend too much money?
Yes.
Can a person earn so much they waste a lot of money?
Yes.
Can a person who makes 'too much money' also do a lot of good in this world?
Yes.
7. Pop-soda-coke-something else...what's it called where you live?
We've always called it soda...if I say I want a coke I mean I want an honest to goodness name brand COKE, not a Pepsi or just any old soft drink.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
Speaking of question #2....
This video puts our complaining to shame. In a humorous way of course.
It kinda makes me smile and say ouch all at the same time...definitely food for thought-
Thats funny.. I love unloading clean dishes from the dishwasher. :) Hope you're having a great week so far!
ReplyDeleteoh and LOL i love the video ;)
ReplyDeleteQuestion #6...you and I think very much alike, my friend. Back up to the dishwasher comment...I currently have a counter full of cups to wash. I don't cook, thankfully, otherwise we'd be in a heap of trouble!
ReplyDeleteThat pesky dishwasher does create quite a first world problem, doesn't it? We were on the same wavelength with that one. :) Let's have a champagne toast to our mutual dislike of that chore. Prost!
ReplyDeleteOooh. I wish I'd thought of Barney for the annoying song. lol My mind went blank.
ReplyDeleteMy Little C is obsessed with dinosaurs right now, but detests Barney... thankfully none of my kids every really liked him. Phew! Dodged that bullet!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't STAND Barney! That fake gulpy giggle of his. Gag!
ReplyDeleteFirst world problems. Yeah, not so problematic in the whole scheme of things.
Hah I am exactly the same when it comes to Coke. I love it in restaurants when they say "we don't have coke but we have pepsi" I always change it.
ReplyDeleteYes Barney! I believe he is still around. I spent many mornings watching him and Baby Bop!
ReplyDeleteLOVED the video, think I found my post for tomorrow!!!
ReplyDeleteIn April, I really enjoyed reading about your China trip, it's probably the closest I'll ever come!
Oh yeah, Barney. Make it stop.
Barney! When my girls were little Barney was the "it" dino! One year we had a Barney-themed combined birthday party for my daughters (their bdays are only 12 days apart.) We had Barney decorations, videos running - and then Barney showed up and danced with all the kiddies and they got their pic taken with him. It was pretty special!
ReplyDeleteI loved the Chine-Taipei-Hong Kong series! I've also been enjoying the fall pictures. Keep posting! I miss autumn's colors so much. (I know I say that every year.)
ReplyDeleteI hid when the debates were on. I follow politics and I try to be aware of what's happening in this country, but I can't stand a lot of the--let's not get into it. : )
Great Hodgepodge today Joyce and I did enjoy the "ranting and raving" I did. :o) Love the way you can keep your answers so simple. Loved your answer to #6 especially. So, so true! Happy Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteOH MYGOSH... I laughed till tears were pouring over that video!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comic relief in these troubling times! I loved the video :)
ReplyDeleteBarney! I had the same answer - HATED him.
ReplyDeleteThankfully my daughter grew up pre-Barney.
ReplyDeleteI'm not the least ashamed to admit that I didn't see a single debate. I figured (correctly) that I'd hear enough afterwards to make me want to pull my hair out. ;-)
Love your answers. I have many of the same responses....and got really wordy today. I think I have had way too much coffee this morning.
ReplyDeleteLoved the video, makes one stop and think. I hope that Barney went the way of TeleTubbies. My gk watch dora and that is just about as bad.
ReplyDeleteMy children are a little older so Barney wasn't around yet which is fine by me! Yes Coke means a Coke here too! That video is a great reminder.
ReplyDeleteOh, ouch with a smile. How many times do I complain about blessings some people would love to have? Too often to count, I'm sure. Maybe I'll be more attentive to it now that I've seen the video. I hope so.
ReplyDeleteYou and I are on the same page with emptying the dishwasher and that annoying Barney song. I, too, wonder if he is still on TV...not that I miss him or anything!;)
ReplyDeleteLove your answers on making too much money, so true!
ReplyDeleteI still have two girls around to empty the dishwasher, although I help them out sometimes and it doesn't bug me too much.
ReplyDeleteI would love to ride a double decker in London. That would be a great bus ride for me. I did enjoy your China tour! Can you go back to London and give us another one? :)
Oh, great! Your random thought was about not complaining of our First World problems. Ouch! You should see what my random thought was. (A little complaining/a little exulting, but First World all the way.) :) Always good to be reminded.
I forgot about Barney all together but yes, it's very hard on the nerves! I like to empty the dishwasher for some strange reason..... Great questions.
ReplyDeleteI got the pleasure of seeing the live Barney show in the 90's. What we do for our children. LOL
ReplyDeleteOmg I laughed so hard at the video...love it! When we travel we seem to always to the bus tours its a quick way to see the highlights especially if a short visit. Barney songs for me is my nail on the chalk board...yikes! Happy Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if we were separated at birth... of course you're a champy and coke girl!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the dishes. You would think with only two people in the house that there would be few dishes. But then, my hubby dirties a lot of dishes when he does anything in the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI think beer is more of a guys drink.
Yes.. Barney is still around… much to the dismay of others. I tend to tune it out since it's on every day at my daycare.
ReplyDeleteOk. I can't get through to the other links.. :(
ReplyDeleteBut I'm so with you on the dishwasher unloading!!!! :)
I've seen that video before, but it's so true! I think I do an okay job of smacking myself up side my own head when I am stressing over a first world problem. But boy, getting over what we take for granted is tough.
ReplyDeleteI can hardly wait for next week...#100!!!
ReplyDeleteFun questions this week Joyce. Enjoyed being back this week.
ReplyDeleteI can't stand going to bed with the dishwasher needing to be emptied, but I hate emptying it. Such a problem. ;)
ReplyDeleteBahaha! "My i-Phone 5 is to big for my skinny jeans"! Ooo! Next week is 100 - that's exciting!
ReplyDeletethanks again for the fun hop!!! and like you COKE IS that COKE not pepsi, dr pepper etc, I also hate unloading the dishwasher, but laundry is the worse!
ReplyDeletehappy wednesday!!
Need to show video to my 8th graders and some other people I know! Thanks
ReplyDeleteI remember taking a vacation in your part of the world and asking a gas station attendant where the pop machine was.
ReplyDeleteHe looked at me like I had two heads.
Lesson learned: on the East coast ask for soda!
My youngest has just discovered Barney... that song still grates on the nerves :) Hoping this phase is over quickly :)
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of restaurants [at least the fast food kind] are part of Pepsi or Coke franchises...so, they only serve one kind/brand. But I've experienced in more restaurants that are 'sit down' and you're served, they usually tell you "We only have Pepsi" when you order a coke. I'd much prefer the non-cola sodas anyway. LOL
ReplyDeleteDishwasher? Just the two of us you say? It's that way here, but Bud does this job, both loading and unloading, --- thing is, he tends to make sure the dishwasher is really LOADED full before he runs it, and by that time, I'm out of everyday forks/utensils and I have to resort to the holiday flatware, and I don't like to use them unless it's a special occasion. rofl
definitely agree with #6 and #7... and "first world problems" are funny
ReplyDeleteSometimes I just do the dishes by hand and dry them on cloths on the counter. Just two of us yet twin kitchen sinks fill to overflowing. And, you can't put dirty didhes in the dishwasher or else they come out dirty. You have to clean them first (???). I used to add a little bleach to the machine but i have a septic tank now so use ammonia.
ReplyDeleteI love beer, used to be a homebrewer. Love Chanpagne too. And whisky. Am an alcoholic so have an O'Douls on rare occasions.
Can't remember the last time I rode a bus or subway; was back in the late "60's I think. When I was twelve we moved way out onto Long Island, I finished 8th grade by commuting on Long Island railroad.
Yeah, I got sick of that Barney song in short order.
Me and my BW don't debate, we discuss and she usually wins. I guess I'm really whipped here.
What was next? Oh yeah, I agree with you about the money.
We always called it soda where I'm from (NYC).In New Orleans they call it "cold drink".
Hope all is well by you all.
