The Wednesday Hodgepodge

Welcome to your weekly dose of Hodgepodge. So happy you've joined the fun here today. If you've answered the questions add your link at the end of my post, then run say hi to your neighbors. Here we go...

1. When is your next big deadline? What's it for?

A date in early June. Closing on our house in the Garden State if all continues to go smoothly. It doesn't always go smoothly in the world of real estate, but so far so good. I intend to blog about the moving and even have something in my draft file, just no time to get to it. Because I'm moving.

2. May is National Barbecue Month  Do you prefer cooking indoors or out? What's the best thing about a barbecue? What was the last thing you cooked on an outdoor grill?a

If the word 'you' means hubs, then yes I prefer cooking outdoors. Hubs is in charge of outdoor cooking, and I handle the prep indoors. Best thing about a BBQ? The cleanup! I love the taste too, but you can't beat the no messy pans to wash bonus. Last thing cooked outdoors would be BBQ'd chicken on Monday night.

3. What is one thing on your 'never again' list?

Never is a harsh word, one that sometimes comes back to slap you in the face. I hesitate to use it in a blanket statement, but in this case I'll say ride a roller coaster. If I never ride another roller coaster it's A-OK by me.

4. What's something that annoys you about people your age? Something you love about your generation?

I'm not sure there's anything specific to my age group that annoys me. My pet peeves cross generational lines-ha! If I have to pick something I guess it would be people my age who coddle their adult children. Don't misunderstand... I know there are times we all need a helping hand, and I enjoy treating my grown kids now and then but! I do expect them to be independent, to support themselves, and to take responsibility for their own actions. To be adults.

I do love and admire the way my generation tries to keep up with the ever changing technology landscape. It seems to come naturally to the 'kids', but is a bit more challenging when you've got a middle aged brain.

5. Lilac, iris, hyacinth, pansy...your favorite purple flower?

I love purple flowers! Give me a bouquet containing all four please, and I'll be a happy camper. Of the four listed lilacs are probably my #1.

6. Whats a song that always calms you down?

What a Friend We Have in Jesus.

7. What's the last thing you donated?

Moving house means purging closets, cabinets and drawers, so clothes were probably the most recent item donated. We support children through World Vision and Compassion, so that donation happens on a monthly basis too.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Brace yourself for cuteness overload...

Meet my daughter and son-in-laws new little love, a precious Boykin Spaniel...

...because after every marriage comes a puppy.

  2. That's great news about selling your house! I hope the closing goes off without a hitch. (Brad and Jennifer are now entering week two of showing theirs--and she's about to lose it! Ha!)
Your new 'fur grandbaby' is precious :)

  4. Wow! I didn't know you had a contract on your Sparta house! Awesome! Things ARE "moving" right along! And...once again, we answered some questions quite the same, didn't we? Not a surprise! So, what is the new puppy's name??

  7. I'm with you on the never again to roller coaster rides. What an adorable puppy - everyone should start their day with a dose of cuteness like that.

  9. I didn't realize your house had sold...congrats! I know that's a huge load off your shoulders! Now, the REAL 'fun' begins! Oh, my goodness...what a cute puppy! Chris and I got our first dog shortly after we married, too...it's a great way to learn how to be a parent.

  10. We had 2 Cocker Spaniels, Buddy and Pal for about 14 years (till they died of natural causes). Loved them so much!! Your grand puppy is precious!

Had to smile at your answer to the "never again" question. We said much the same thing!

So glad to read that you have a contract on your house!!

  11. Yes, puppies do seem to follow marriage, it certainly did with both of our children. How funny!

I did not realize that your house had sold. Wonderful!!! Can't wait to hear about what you and the Hubs will do in the interim.

    Wishing you smooth sailing!

  12. Aww the puppy is adorable. In my case the puppy came first. For hubby it was a case of love me and love my dog! No longer with us unfortunately and we moved on to cats while I was working. Not a lot of love from hubby there.

  13. Joyce, your puppy is adorable. Hang in there on the house closing. We have closed on our sale, no just wait for our new home to be finished so we can close on it. Have to keep pushing the contractor.

  14. Congrats on selling the house! I'm guessing that means some sort of interim housing before the new house is completed. :) Good thing you are an expert 'mover'. Lol. Puppies are always adorable, and that one is no exception. Hope his behavior matches his cuteness. :) #puppiesarefun #andlotsofwork

  15. Congratulations on selling your house!
I still like roller coasters but my back and neck don't, I guess I could add that to my list as well.
Good luck with all the moving and all it involves!
    Love your new grand-pup!!!

  17. I'd be happy to never ride a roller coaster again too. That puppy is so cute! Praying all goes well with the closing on your house.

  18. Congrats on selling your house! What a precious puppy. So darn cute! We got our first puppy a week after we got home from our honeymoon.

  19. Okay, so the house has sold? That is wonderful! Since Hubby is a realtor, I know about stressful closings, but remarkably, most go without a hitch. This will be such an exciting year ahead for you.

    Your grand dog is adorable.

  23. I hate roller coasters too! You can thank my father for trying to send my 8 year old self up in a roller coaster by herself! I will say NEVER again! And the puppy is ADORBS!

  25. I read here on Wednesday but only with my iPad, and for some reason, comments tend to disappear before I publish. I missed the memo that you sold your house. Congrats. Now you can go full throttle ahead . (Okay, I'm sure it's felt full throttle since D1 got engaged.) Happy weekend to ya'll. (Gotta start saying that to you now, right?)
