Sit A Spell

S is for Sweet Southern Comfort

Do you have a porch? I'm a little bit obsessed and I blame it on the south. Porches and the south go together like biscuits and gravy, shrimp and grits, home grown tomatoes and a glass of sweet tea. I've had decks and patios and stoops, but never an honest to goodness porch.

The new house will have a screened in porch, and at one end will be this-

That's a fireplace, or it will be eventually. And I'll have a kitchen door, another minor obsession, to let the light in and keep the bugs out.

At the opposite end of the porch will be this-

A view of the lake and the great outdoors.
Y'all come sit a spell!

  1. Oh my, I do love a nice porch! Grew up in a house with one (in Ohio). We don't have a front porch in Florida...it's a screened in pool behind the house. Nice, but just not the same!!

  2. We have a porch and I love it. Many bonding times have taken place while sittin' a spell with my peeps. Your view is certainly a conversation piece!

  3. I think you might need a bigger porch because we're all going to want to come and sit for a while! lol

  4. How pretty! I would move ONLY if we could have a house with a view of the lake. I'm jealous!

  5. I would love to have a view of the lake even though I would rarely actually be in or on the water. I used to have a view of the wetlands and woods behind me until the deer population required a fence.

  6. We do not have a porch but it is my dream that our next house will have a porch. Of course we do have our patio's with the city light views. Wouldn't it be nice to have it all??? Hooray for the porch on your new home.....

  7. That's really nice, and you'll be able to use it during the winter because of the fireplace (it is a working fireplace, right?).
