The Sunny Side of Life

Happy St. Patrick's Day. Again. Why did I think Tuesday was St. Patrick's Day? I blame it on the time change. And middle age, but mostly the time change.

My mom flew to SC last week to attend the conference with us, and she's still here so my sister and I are sharing. She's spent part of the time at my sister's house, and a couple of nights in the apartment with me too. It was her first trip here since we started the build, and she wanted to see the lot and especially the house progress.

I'm going to blab her age, which she won't like at all, but y'all she's 85 and she's flying by herself to visit family and she's schlepping down a muddy hillside to get a look at the house (carefully, in shoes I've wrapped in plastic bags because the rain!), and then all the way down the hill which hasn't been landscaped so consequently is still filled with stray branches and vines underfoot just so she could stand on the dock and take in the beauty of the lake for herself. Go mom!

And then she trekked through the house where the framers were working (yay!) with all their chords and boards and I only hope I'm as determined as she is when I'm 85. Hubs is not worried. I'm well on my way-ha!

Also, sun glorious sun!

Look at us all techy and 21st century. Mother-daughter selfies are my favorite.

  1. Your mom looks great, you look great and the house is going to be wonderful!

  2. Well, I sure do hope I'm all that agile and sassy when I'm 85. Heck, I just hope I make it to 85! :o)) House is sure looking good!

  3. She's the youngest 85 year old I've ever seen! You have good jeans I mean genes :)The house looks great!

  4. Kudos to your mom for being so active at 85! You must come from great genes :)
Your house is coming along, and looking good! Your view is "to die for".
Thank you so much for offering to add my link, if I still can't see the linky. I appreciate that very much! I'll let you know how it goes, next week.
Enjoy the rest of your week!

  7. She is a beautiful lady. Treasure every moment and memory with her. The house is looking great. I can imagine the end gable wall of windows looking out toward the lake?

    1. There's a screened in porch going in on the other side of the covered deck so lots of pretty views from everywhere : )

  8. Just a great story all around - yay for your Mom :-)

  9. Great example for me to keep going. Loved being with you all over the weekend.
