Warning: Hodgepodge Ahead

Welcome to the Wednesday Hodgepodge! If you've answered this week's questions add your link at the end of my post, then leave a comment for the blogger linking before you.  Here are my answers-

1. I read here a list of 13 things you should do in June. I'm paraphrasing a little but basically...

Go on a road trip with your best friend, pick fresh strawberries, host a garden party, take a morning run, treat yourself to a flower bouquet, spend a whole day hiking, discover a new coffee shop, try a new ice cream flavor, read at least one book, visit a Farmer's Market, make a swing for your home, and visit a new city.

Which thing on the list do you most want to do? Of the activities mentioned, which one holds the least appeal? How many on the list will you attempt in June? What's one thing you'd add to the list?

Of the activities listed I probably most want to visit a new city because I love exploring new places. Will that happen in June? There's nothing scheduled as of now, but never say never. Which one holds the least appeal? Making a swing for my home.

How many on the list will I attempt in June? A road trip, a morning run, a flower bouquet, all day hiking maybe?, ice cream maybe? definitely a trip to the Farmer's Market and I'll for sure read a new book or four.

What would I add to the list? Dining al fresco is always on my summer to-do list so let's add that.

2. What's something you could do today to feel more peaceful?

Pray, take a walk or go for a swim, count my blessings...these are all things that help me put a day in perspective.

3.June 7th is National Chocolate Ice Cream Day. Are you a fan? Swiss mocha, rocky road, chocolate chocolate chip, peanut butter and chocolate, or a dish of plain chocolate...what's your pleasure?

Rocky road ranks in my top three favorite ice cream flavors, so yes I'd say I'm a fan. Of course I've got my favorites ranked. Doesn't everyone?

4. If you came with a warning what would it say?

Caution: Excessive Talker

5.What's the most interesting website you've visited in the last week?

I haven't visited anything new or at least not worth mentioning in the past week so I'm going to say Pinterest. I can always find something interesting there-ha!

6.Spring, summer, autumn, winter...which season are you? Why?

I'm going with autumn for a couple of reasons. I'm more than 40 50 so like the season, it's also third quarter here. Also there's something about the sky and the light and the natural world in autumn that is suited to thinking deep thoughts, reflecting on the past, goal setting for the future, and a general contentment with life that I think fits my personality.

7."You lose sight of things...and when you travel, everything balances out." ~Daranna Gidel

Would you agree with that sentiment? Explain why or why not.

Yes I mostly agree. Traveling (for pleasure) helps me remember the world is big, that I have much to be grateful for and much still to learn. When I travel I think less about myself and more about the world and my place in it.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

My daughter2 and I are celebrating the official start of summer today with lunch and a movie. Yes I know it's not officially official summer for another 12 days, but she's a teacher so summer starts here today. Yesterday actually. We're going to see Love and Friendship which got good reviews and looks cute. Has anyone seen it yet?

  1. I like Rocky Road ice cream, too. I don't think ranking favorite things is weird at all. :) Sometimes I have too many favorites and that makes it hard to rank them. Shrimp and cheesecake always outrank anything else.

Enjoy the time with your daughter and have a blessed week. :)

  2. I think excessive talker would get me, too. I cannot say "Hello" in less than 500 words. I think some others in my family have that same problem.

I agree. Sometimes we have to see how other people live to appreciate what we have.

  3. Will have to check out the movie. Have fun with your daughter. Great way to spend time :)

  4. Today was my first official day of summer, also. I have been doing a long-term for a fellow teacher. Enjoy the movie.

  5. Thanks for the questions, Joyce. Have a beautiful day.

  6. Hi Joyce... We both were on the same page when it came to adding al fresco to the list of doing things in June. Enjoy your lunch and movie.

  7. It was a fun Hodgepodge today--I didn't have to think to much :) As usual, I can't see the linky today. Could you help me out again? Thanks, in advance.
There is nothing better than mother/daughter time, so enjoy yours, today. I hope the movie is a good one!
    Kathy (Reflections)

  8. Seems like every time I plan to dine al fresco, it's just too hot and miserable to enjoy it. Hope you and your girl have a blast today. Nothing like mom-daughter time!

  9. I haven't seen that movie, or even heard of it. I really should pay closer attention to what playing at our local Cinema. You gave us another fun HP and I thank you. It's always fun to read all the answers and see how much we all seem to have in common! Enjoy your time with D2!!

  10. I have a road trip planned at the end of June to see my daughter in Pittsburgh. So looking forward to it :-)

  11. We've been eating out on our deck lately. We still have lots of work to do here but there is still something nice about eating outdoors. Enjoy your day with daughter 2. We still have a few weeks of school left here.

  12. I am going to check back with you to see how you liked Love and Friendship. I have been wanting to go, but a friend advised me that she read it was a very silly movie.
As usual, I love your answers, especially to your season and also being peaceful. Praying first thing in the morning always brings peace. Your thoughts about traveling are good, too. Very true.

  13. Hello,
This was a fun Hodgepodge, thank you. :-)
Chocolate ice cream yummy! I make a homemade peach ice cream when we receive our fresh peaches from Georgia in July. Oh my, I do think that is my favorite ice cream of all time.
Have fun with your daughter, it sounds like a fun day.

  14. LOL I was thinking you wanted to eat in the nude!!! Yes I'm losing my mind. Love your answer for being more peaceful. I like your warning sign. I never even thought of Pinterest yet it is my favorite place to check out each day. Enjoy your movie. I haven't seen that one yet.

  15. I wish I had your sense of adventure. I think I just have trouble coming out of my comfort zone. I can just imagine you enjoying your new home from a porch swing. :) When you're a teacher, summer officially starts the first day you don't have to go to school. And then, when it starts for everyone else, you get to start it all over again!

  16. I no longer have that sense of adventure. I am glad we traveled when we did. At 65 I am just not that outgoing anymore!

  17. I sure enjoyed your "warning" question (and answer). Had a lot of fun coming up with different ones. Yes, summer is always "official" when school is officially out! We don't wait for the calendar to dictate that!
    Enjoy your June-ing escapades.

  18. Thanks for the thoughtful questions this week. Nice to be hodgepodging with you again.

  19. I loved every part of this post! Let's see...We are moving in July, so June will be a re-discovering time. Ice cream?True vanilla with peaches sounds great! Trip to see my brother and sister in mid-July. There are only the 3 of us, and two are well into the sixties.

    Your list is awesome.

  20. If I was still in CA dining outside is a good bet. Here in SW Mo tod humid in summer. I click on recommendations and links often during the week trying to find interesting things.

  21. Okay, now I'm loving what you had to say about autumn!

  22. Regarding #4-Color me shocked! I think that traditionally Summer begins on Memorial Day and ends on Labor Day regardless of what the calendar may say. Any time spent with an offspring is time well spent. I hope you enjoy your lunch and movie with Daughter2.
