I cannot tell a lie...its time for the Wednesday Hodgepodge-Vol 14

So glad you joined the fun today!
Add a link to your post at the bottom of mine and do be sure to visit your neighbors.

1. Your favorite chocolate treat?

Such a hard question right off the bat...I am going to say German Chocolate cake which combines my love of chocolate with my love of coconut.

2. What more than anything else makes you feel loved?

Being treated with kindness and respect. Having my strengths acknowledged and encouraged and my weaknesses forgiven.

3. Cherries or blueberries?

Why are the food questions so hard for me?

I love them both and I eat a lot of blueberries. I have them on my cereal almost every morning. And I love blueberry pancakes except hold the pancake and just give me the blueberries. Sadly pancakes aren't on my diet. It seems like we get blueberries practically year round now but we don't get fresh cherries very often. I'm picturing a bowl of fresh cherries eaten outside on a sunny day and I like that picture. And dried cherries are my newest obsession so I think I'm going to say cherries.

4. What is the one trait you most want the leader of your country to posses?

Integrity-I want that person to have a moral core. I can disagree with a leader's politics yet be supportive if I feel like they are a man/woman of integrity. I have no respect for those who bend whichever way the political wind blows.

5. Are you a saver or a spender?

Here's the thing-it's hard to be a spender when you are paying university tuition. Unless of course you count buying an education as 'spending'. Here's the other thing-it's hard to be a saver when you are paying university tuition. Unless you count putting all your pennies in the bank to pay for your children's education as 'saving'. I'm kidding. Kind of. When kids go off to uni it's like someone turns on the money tap and forgets to turn it off.

I think we have a good balance between saving and spending. We plan for the future, we don't make large impulse purchases and we live within our means so overall we're a good team in this department.

6. If you gave a party for all of your friends would they already know each other?

No. There would be some overlap, kind of like that 6 degrees of separation thing, but when you've moved around as much as we have your friends are scattered far and wide. Paths cross more often than you might imagine so some of our friends know some of our friends but essentially a party with all of our friends in one place would mean lots of strangers together. Lots of really fun strangers. Sounds fantastic...we'd like to host that party!

7. Are you interested in antiques?

Yes. I like traditional furniture mixed with a few carefully chosen antiques. I would not want a house filled with only antiques but I love the way they add character and depth to a room. We have several pieces that I love but I suppose our grandfather clock is my favorite.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

I think you all know I sometimes struggle with all things technical, ahem, and I'm wondering if you've seen this? My daughter showed it to me when she was home. It's a clip of the then hosts of the Today show discussing 'What is the internet?" during a commercial break. Hard to believe it was only 1994.

  1. Oh my goodness! That Today Show clip is very funny and oh so dated! Look at Katie's hair!!!

In 1994, I worked as a computer helpdesk technician, and I remember when we switched our computers to Windows. It was the strangest thing...having little icons that stood for programs. I remember being very excited but a little overwhelmed. I cannot imagine going back to DOS and no internet!!

  3. I love your answers Joyce, especially to to number 4. "Integrity" was the word I was searching for last night to describe what I wanted our PM to have but my mind was a blank! Thank you :)

  4. I'm glad to hear the food questions are hard for you, too! You're so right about the college/money thing. Everytime we turn around the boys are needing money for something.
That clip was hilarious! We've come a long way in a short time, huh?

  5. So funny "what is internet" hard to remember a world before! I'm a blueberry girl all the way....milk chocolate and I'm so scared to pay for college, thankful for only one child. She is a junior and starting to look...yikes! Have a wonderful day!

  6. This week's questions were the hardest of any week for me so far. They really made me think ... which is not necessarily a bad thing. ;-)

I was laughing at the video until I realized that in 1994 I had NO idea of what the internet was either. ha!

  7. Integrity....that's a good one too. I kinda felt the same about the blue berries or cherries. I like them both too.

You really astonished me with the video clip on #8. Seems like its been around forever. That's the year my youngest was born!

Love the questions and your answers this week.

  8. You gave some excellent answers! I think if a person has a strong faith in God, the moral core values fall in to place. So that's what I went with. Very funny clip! Thanks for hosting. Blessings, SusanD

  9. Wow, #8 was amazing. I had never seen that. Look how far we've come in such a short time! My mother is 93 and I marvel at the changes she's seen in her lifetime.

  10. I see that you and I agree on the same trait for our country's leader to possess :)

I saw that same clip on television last week, and only then did I realize how far technology has come in such a short time!

    Fun questions! Thanks :)

  11. #4 -- that was my first thought too. If people in general would just conduct themselves with integrity, this world would be a much nicer place.

  12. Our answers about politicians were very similar.

It's funny to hear that kind of conversation about the Internet now, though I probably sounded much the same way at first. How far it has come in a relatively short time!

I need to broaden the range of fruits I like.

We're still paying off kids' college bills -- ugh. Hope to have them done before my youngest starts in a couple of years.

  13. Integrity is very important, I think, especially in politicians. And so very scarce. It's frightening how much people feel that it's a commodity we can do without.

The clip is so funny. Makes me wonder what will be common place ten years from now.

  14. I love that clip! Wow, it hasn't been that long but it feels like it has been around forever. And I can remember alot of people were very afraid of it. I can remember some of the preachers preaching against it, isn't it unreal how life changes.

    Good questions and good answers!
    until next time... nel

  15. Love your answer on #2. Crazy how far the 'internet' has come.

I'm scared of school beyond twelfth grade. Mama may need to find a 'paying' job. Boo.

  18. I'm so impressed that you are able to include so much fruit in your diet. I'm awful!!! I don't hardly eat anything that grows - fruit or veggie!! It's going to catch up with me some day.

    Love your answer to #2!

  21. I'm joining in for the first time. I LOVED that clip! It made me think back to when how old I was. LOL I was just married (for about a year) - finishing college. Hubby & I wanted to buy a computer for our wedding. The top one was a 486 - way before Pentium processors. ;-)

  22. I answered the same as you on #4! Funny how that happens. Love your video clip. Thanks for the laugh.
